Hi! I’m Fernando Garcia, aka Ferchucky or Dr. Banana 🍌 — a plant scientist, agronomist, and a bit of an artist. I create #SciComm, fun videos, and #Bananatoons, sharing my 20+ years working with crops like coffee and bananas.
I’m the lead of the Yelloway breeding program at KeyGene, a consultant expert on Fusarium TR4, and I love giving a behind-the-scenes look at plant science through vlogs.

A few months ago, I gave a presentation during a series of seminars. Even though I'm constantly invited to these kinds of talks, interviews, and podcasts. I was nervous because I was invited to give a seminar at the place I used to work. In fact, I started my career here as an agronomist and scientist. @cenicafe (Coffee research national center) is considered by many as the NASA of coffee research. For me it will be always my school in science. It's a place where I learned a lot about coffee research in general, breeding, diseases and insects, physiology and more. I made some great friends too.
