To my early childhood educators

Stop rejecting yourself.

A child can be in the room and still not feel like they belong.

Belonging is more than helping children survive the waters around them.

Freedom begins with teaching our children the whole story.

Stop interrogating how she survived and start interrogating why he chose violence. ~Dr. OH

Connection gives correction somewhere to land.

Be careful what you speak over children.

Heart change is powerful, but policy makes equity non-negotiable. ~Dr. OH

What if we started creating spaces where students can truly belong?

We've all heard these classics...: "Because I said so," "quit crying," and so much more.

We're always learning even as teachers. So, always remember: Learn before you label.

No two gingerbread houses are the same, but they all belong...and so do our students.

Students don't learn just by being told something. They learn through connection and compassion!

At Inkwell Beach on Martha’s Vineyard, I was reminded of this...

Belonging can be as simple as reminding a child: You don’t have to navigate these waters alone.

Educators we can be lighthouses for children—offering guidance and belonging as they find their way.

Self-care and self-sacrifice are NOT one and the same.

Belonging is more than being welcomed—it’s being seen, valued, and connected.

You are so much more than just your shortcomings.

The lobster rolls at Grace Episcopal Church may bring people back year after year, but...

You don’t have to consume the hate that comes your way!

Stop confusing distance with professionalism.

Educators, we are in the business of working with humans.

Y’all are really out here arguing in the comments with an AI!!

Compassion, connection, and confidence are what enable us the thrive! Please don't ever forget that.

The distraction isn't an accident!

Not every difficult interaction requires disconnection.

Honored to serve as a keynote presenter at the AACPS RIS²E Conference!

Silence protects the story they want forgotten.

If someone's grief makes you uncomfortable, that's yours to examine, not theirs to silence.

Stop calling overwork commitment and burnout dedication.

Dolly Parton: An Undeniable Light

The Classroom Detox continues!

Detoxing coworker relationships does not mean blocking everyone.

Before you decide a family does not care, check the story you are telling yourself.

Every challenging behavior is not a personal attack.

Rest in peace Nolan Wells🙏🏿

Speaking up is not disrespectful, and protecting your capacity is not insubordination.

Taking turns -- Why do we expect this of children?

Are you burnt out from indecision?

Refusal is not always disrespect

A little distance from your administrators goes a long way.

Detoxing relatioships starts with the stories we tell ourselves

This is NOT high school. Unless they've earned it, your coworkers are NOT your friends!

Use what you have.

You are not wrong for setting boundaries in early childhood education.
