A lot of people are STILL confused about boycott, so here's a very detailed version, nothing is sugar-coated, no side is favoured, I've done my research thoroughly, everything that is said here is checked and confirmed.

โœฆCONCEPT OF BOYCOTT

- What does a boycott mean?

Fans withdraw financial support from the company, pressuring them to handle situations better. Fans boycott for the following reasons:
1. Overworking/mistreatment of idols
2. Poor way of handling scandals
3. Unfair line distribution among the group members
And many more reasons that fans think a company should act on.

- How a boycott works?

Fans stop:
1. Buying merch and albums
2. Streaming official content
3. Following official accounts
4. Paying for fancalls/paid content (memberships, etc)
One thing to be clear of, boycotting does NOT mean we hate the groups/members, boycott is not against the idols but for the idols.

- Impact of boycott on idols.

For rookie groups, a boycott affects their career a lot, including their future and their pay. But if a group is doing good and charting well, a boycott affects just the numbers.
Revenue is split into:
1. The company
2. The group
3. Maybe a few individual idols

A short-term boycott barely creates impact on the idols' salary.
They have multiple sources of income.
Hence, impact โ‰  collapse.

- Emotional impact on idols.

Despite the supportive posts, idols still may be confused when their work is not getting much attention. However, loving messages from the fans decrease the confusion. (Keyword : Decrease). Idols feel reassured by the supportive gestures by fans because believe me, at the end, they're still on social media, they see both, hate posts and love posts.

โœฆSTOCKS

- Constant bigger drops and occasional small ups.

There are frequent drops with a bit of a high rate (2-4%). However, on some days, we see a small rise in the stock (0-2%). What does this mean? The stocks are dropping more than they rise. Lack of trust by the investors, weak attempt at recovery.
In this case, the number of selling is more than buying.
You can compare it to climbing stairs, to put it simply. You're going down 2 steps, then 1 step back up, and then again 4 steps down. Notice it. You ARE going up at a point, but overall? You're going down.

- Boycott impact.

This is where things get slightly delusional. The boycott works, yes. But not in a way we think. The boycott is just one of the factors affecting the stocks of the company. These are some of the factors affecting in the drop:
1. Overall market conditions
2. Company profits
3. News/media
4. Investor expectations

So the boycott does affect, but not in a heavy manner. It's like a side-dish, to say in an easy way.

- What if even 35-40% of the fandom is boycotting?

Even if people claim to boycott, some support silently, and the number of people who have withdrawn financial support, by which I mean, purchasing or indulging with paid content, are very less, yes. So even if it seems like many people are boycotting, they are hardly doing so. Tours, memberships, streaming, these are still going on.

- Would the boycott affect HYBE?

Yes, it will, but not as much as we think it will. It's barely a dent, a mere scratch. But, when combined with the other factors, it does go down.

- Decline in stocks and the effect it has on the company.

Some companies highly rely on investors and their opinions, so if they see any particular objection on their made decisions, they try to find out where does the problem lie. In few cases, it pressures the company to re-evaluate their strategies, approach and decisions. Even when it doesn't show, it could happen behind the screen. (Keyword : Could). The reconsideration can take place in following ways:
1. Changes in promotion style
2. Different PR handling
3. Shifts in comeback timing or focus
4. More fan engagement efforts

They don't reveal everything suddenly, they wait. They wait until things get settled, they try to rebuild trust.

- Will boycott alone change that?

No, it won't. Short and simple. Unless the bigger factors work in our favour, which they kind of are (Keyword : Kind of), we won't see a noticeable change. The alignment goes something like this:
1. Stock decline
2. Media coverage
3. Investor concerns
4. Fandom dissatisfaction

That's what matters.

โœฆENGAGEMENT

- Does downloading/copying link count as a way of engaging?

No, it doesn't. For it to be counted as a view, you need to watch the content on the platform only. Some sites do access the videos briefly, but they don't get counted, since social platforms like YouTube rule out inhuman/robotic views.

- Each view counts.

Even if you claim to watch it 'once', that still counts. Each and every view holds a value. You can't think that "Oh, it's just one view, what could happen?" Trust me, sweetheart, a lot can happen when people click on a video with the same thought. When just 'one view' can become millions of views.

โœฆHEESEUNG'S SOLO

- Do we boycott?

That's upon you, if you want to boycott, do it, if you don't want to, don't.

- How can we balance boycotting and supporting him?

Let's be a bit real here, there's no correct way to support him, do what your mind says. But be aware, each choice has consequences. No way is perfect right now, you're either feeding the company or boycotting Heeseung's solo.

- If you're boycotting.

Do not engage with any content released officially, uninstall Weverse and other apps that include paying for things. Post tons of supportive stuff and tags to let Heeseung know that his work is seen and acknowledged, remind him of how talented he is. It won't cut it out entirely, but it will decrease his self-doubt. But remember, he won't chart and have wins.

- If you're not boycotting.

Cool, you can watch and engage with stuff provided officially. You can buy the merch, album, concert tickets. But remember, you're only encouraging the company to mistreat their idols further.

โœฆHOW TO MAKE A CHOICE

Take time away from the Internet, sit down with your thoughts, it's okay if they're messy, you don't have to sort it out immediately or know anything suddenly. Take your time, I know it's overwhelming, I know it's hard, but I'm here, okay? All of us, we're family, not blood-related, maybe, but by connection. So process it all, no matter how long it takes, even if you couldn't, nothing's wrong with that. People go by their own pace, and that's completely normal. Go outside, take a walk, eat well, sleep well, spend time with your loved ones, take a break. You don't have to keep it all to yourself, if you have no one to talk to in real life, you can always come up to me, I'll understand, because I'm going through the same.

So at the end of the day, your decision relies on you, so think thoroughly, and choose what you feel is the best for you.
