There is something about the public feud between Riverside County Sheriff Chad Bianco and California Attorney General Rob Bonta that deserves much closer scrutiny.

I am no supporter of Rob Bonta. I am literally suing him in federal court over California's concealed-carry licensing system.

But facts are facts, even when they are politically inconvenient.

Sheriff Chad Bianco seized roughly 650,000 ballots from Riverside County's November 2025 election after allegations of voting discrepancies were raised. Riverside County election officials disputed those allegations, and reporting indicates the actual reconciliation variance identified by the Registrar was only 103 votes — approximately 0.016% — rather than the tens of thousands alleged by the group that prompted the investigation. Bianco nevertheless obtained warrants, took custody of approximately 1,000 boxes of election materials, and began a sheriff's-department recount. The legality of those actions is now before the California Supreme Court.

That is not speculation. That is the public record.

And during oral argument on August 24, the California Supreme Court appeared deeply skeptical of Bianco's position, including why the Sheriff's Department bypassed procedures already provided by California election law for resolving alleged discrepancies.

Now consider something else.

The public is constantly presented with Bianco and Bonta as political enemies: the conservative sheriff fighting Sacramento and the Democratic Attorney General supposedly trying to stop him.

Yet I have a very different perspective because I am standing across from BOTH OF THEM in federal court.

My case is:

I originally filed this case pro se challenging California's concealed-carry licensing system under the Second Amendment. The public federal docket identifies Rob Bonta, in his official capacity as California Attorney General, and Chad Bianco, in his official capacity as Riverside County Sheriff, as the defendants/appellees defending against that constitutional challenge.

So while television cameras show the two men attacking one another over ballots, I get to see what happens when the issue is an ordinary citizen challenging government power.

There, their interests align.

There, California's Attorney General and Riverside County's supposedly fiercely independent, pro-Second-Amendment sheriff are both on the opposite side of Vallejos.

That does not prove some secret agreement between Bonta and Bianco, and I am not going to manufacture evidence that does not exist. But it absolutely gives me reason to question the political theater.

In my opinion, people should stop judging politicians by press conferences, campaign slogans and carefully manufactured public rivalries. Look at what government officials actually do when their authority is challenged.

Bianco built much of his political image around standing up to Sacramento. Yet when I challenged the governmental machinery restricting my ability to exercise a constitutional right, I did not find Chad Bianco standing beside me against Rob Bonta.

I found Chad Bianco and Rob Bonta named together on the other side of the federal courthouse.

That distinction matters.

And this ballot controversy makes the contradiction even harder for me to ignore.

Bianco was running for governor when his department undertook an extraordinary seizure of hundreds of thousands of ballots based on allegations the Registrar said were unsupported. Attorney General Bonta eventually challenged that seizure, and the California Supreme Court is now deciding fundamental questions about whether Bianco possessed the authority he claims.

For once, I believe Bonta is asking an entirely legitimate question: Where exactly did the sheriff get the authority to do this?

Being suspicious of government does not mean automatically siding with whichever politician calls himself anti-establishment.

Accountability has to apply to everybody.

If a Democratic Attorney General exceeds his constitutional authority, call it out.

If a Republican sheriff exceeds his constitutional authority, call that out too.

The Constitution does not have a party affiliation.

I cannot prove that Bianco and Bonta are secretly coordinating politically, so I will not present that allegation as fact. What I can prove is that the public image of these men as irreconcilable enemies does not tell the whole story. When my Second Amendment challenge threatened government authority, both became defendants defending the system I challenged.

That is why I believe the public should scrutinize Chad Bianco's actions rather than simply accepting the "constitutional sheriff" branding.

Read the cases.

Read the filings.

Read the ballot litigation.

And then ask yourself whether the political performance matches the actual record.

But multiple incidents like this Nationwide shows that simply is just not true. Maybe the police officers need to take the CCW course and get the CCW themselves because they obviously lack training. No more LEOSA. It's putting the public at risk.
