🧘‍♀️ Tree Pose (Vṛkṣāsana / वृक्षासन)
🌿 Meaning & Origin

The word Vṛkṣa means tree, and Āsana means posture.

This posture symbolizes the steadiness, balance, and groundedness of a tree.

It represents growth, inner stability, and balance between body and mind.

🪷 Technique / Steps to Perform Vṛkṣāsana

Starting Position:
Stand in Tadasana (Mountain Pose) — feet together, spine straight, and body weight evenly distributed.

Shift Weight:
Slowly shift your body weight to the left leg, keeping it firm and strong like the trunk of a tree.

Foot Placement:
Bend the right knee and place the sole of the right foot on the inner side of the left thigh (or below the knee if balance is difficult — never on the knee joint).

Find Balance:
Keep the pelvis neutral and spine erect. Fix your gaze (Drishti) on a single point in front of you to maintain balance.

Arm Position:

Inhale and raise your arms overhead, joining the palms in Namaskar Mudra (Anjali Mudra).

Alternatively, you can keep the palms apart, arms parallel to each other.

Hold the Pose:
Stay in the position for 15–30 seconds, breathing deeply and evenly.
Gradually increase the duration up to 1 minute with practice.

Release:
Exhale, slowly bring down your arms and leg.
Repeat the same on the opposite side.

🌼 Do’s (Guidelines to Follow)

✅ Keep your standing leg strong and straight, without locking the knee.
✅ Engage your core muscles to maintain balance.
✅ Keep your gaze steady to avoid swaying.
✅ Maintain slow and rhythmic breathing.
✅ Practice near a wall initially if you have balance issues.
✅ Focus on feeling rooted through your foot, like a tree grounded in the earth.

🚫 Don’ts (Precautions)

❌ Do not place the lifted foot directly on the knee joint — it may cause strain or injury.
❌ Avoid jerky movements while entering or leaving the pose.
❌ Do not hold your breath; maintain steady breathing.
❌ Avoid this pose if you suffer from vertigo, severe arthritis, sciatica, or recent leg injury.
❌ Beginners should not try to raise the foot too high; start from below the knee.
