Playing With Pride

In the summer of 2014, my partner and I drove across the country to interview people about GaymerX, a game convention with a queer focus. We wanted to know -- why did so many people want to come together for this event? And what do games have to do with sexuality?

It was the start of a project that continues to this day, taking us to two dozen states and meeting over a hundred people who shared stories of how games have changed their lives. We spoke to people in small towns and big cities who opened up about coming out, falling in love, finding a place in the world, and the struggles that they faced along the way.
