If you are trying to learn skill moves, read this...
...because it's easier than you think! BUT you need a plan:
1. Pick 1 single skill move
2. Go into the practice arena and learn the input for 5-10 minutes every time you play
3. Play 1 game against the AI on professional difficulty and try out the move
4. Now head into an online match and spam the skill move every chance you get
5. Slowly work out when it works vs. when it doesn't work (use tutorials to speed this up)

Here's one simple shift that changes everything:
Stop watching your attackers.
Start watching the defender.
Why?
Because your opponent can only manually control one defender at a time.
So being aware of that selected defender and what he does will allow you to completely counter your opponent.
Do these issues sound familiar to you?
- your passes often get intercepted
- you see possible through balls but get tackled before you can pass
- you get under pressure right after your first touch
If yes, you will experience an entirely different game by shifting your focus to the defender.
Follow this simple rule to start:
- Defender covers the passing option --> stay calm and keep dribbling
- Defender tries to attack the ball --> pass quickly to escape the pressure
Once you get good at this, you'll be a nightmare to defend because you never lose a ball anymore.

Scanning is one of the most underrated skills in FC 26.
I see it in the gameplay analysis of our community members all the time...
- Getting pressured on the first touch
- Passing into a defender
- Not seeing a great passing opportunity
- Not defending an obvious run
All these issues come from not scanning enough and therefore not getting important information.
In order to improve, work on actively looking for information as much as possible.
Specifically scan at these key moments:
- While a pass is traveling (Identify pressure and next options early)
- After your first touch (Confirm space and adjust your decision)
- When you have space on the ball (Lift your focus and spot attackers + defenders)
Good decisions come from early information.
If you often feel rushed, it’s usually because you scanned too late.

If you’re a beginner in FC 26, here’s what to learn first:
Not skill combos.
Not any crazy tactics.
Start with these 3 fundamentals:
Solid defending
- Always take away the most dangerous option first
- Practice calm switching
- In every situation control a defender that has impact
Clean build-up
- Simple passes with good preparation
- Controlled touches, shielding the ball from defenders with your body naturally
- Create movement with L1+X / LB + Y passes
Clean finishing
- Choose the right finish
- Prepare the shot properly before powering up
