It’s an idea I had for a long time but couldn’t quite finish in time for last year’s Full Rainbow of Light. It’s a fun one. Actually it’s a sad one, but wrapped in bright paper so to speak. When I was finishing the record last year, it was almost unrecognizable to what it has became over this past year. But I felt really strongly about the idea of it: a song about someone dreading Christmas, not because they’re some cartoonish Scrooge, but because the good memories of Christmases now gone are too painful to relive. And I thought it was interesting to use this idea with wanting 'nothing' for Christmas: not to receive no presents, but to erase the memories of Christmases past, so that nothing remains - to be given a clean slate on which to start again. So I offer this up to the large canon of Christmas Breakup Songs, with hope it puts a bit of pepper in the step of all the grievers and Ebenezers out there.

I made a video with my dear friend Jordan Canning and 15 of the funniest people I've ever met - it's for my song Light The Light - I love it so much. There was so much talent, generosity and work that went into this. It was a big day, with a lot of moving parts, but instead of being stressed about it, I just stood there in my DJ outfit laughing and laughing the whole day. Such beautiful people. I would love to work in this office!
Hard to know what images to post here, as there were so many phases of this recording, and so many people to feature & thank. Much more content to come about the talented cast of characters - some of whom were filmed and photographed doing their thing, some of whom will remain invisible here and be only heard on the record. Here is just a small window into this record. Which is itself a small window into the christmases of my life.

I know it's only September, but time is a flat circle, and there are Christmas cookies on it, and it's high time I told everyone I made a new album called 'Full Rainbow of Light' and yes, it's a Christmas album. It's warm and fun and different and I do love it, even though I never really planned on making it. Honestly, I don't even much like the idea of having a Christmas album. But I'd be lying if I said I didn't love the holidays. Whether you celebrate or not, it's a time so full of large feelings, with such a capacity for good ones, and I spend so much of it noodling at the piano that basically I made up too many songs that I enjoy too much not to release. So here we are. Ten new songs (with one cover) like little lit windows onto my holidays here in St. John's (with family cameos, Irish pipes, drunken choirs and more) coming out November 15th. You can pre-save it and pre-order it now and please do 🎄
