I am a martial artist, student, teacher and author. I practise HEMA or Historical Fencing since 2004 and this is what this channel is about. My group "Mispeldorn" is located in Aachen Germany. We train mostly classical saber and smallsword, but also some earlier stuff and some specials as you will see here. I also learn Bastone Genovese in Italy and teach it in a local study group. It is a traditional method for walkingsticks, staffs, knives and also unarmed selfdefense and (formerly French) kickboxing. This combination of European styles fit very well together. And the third part is physical fitness, which is essential too. I will present you tools and exercies from the 19.th. cent. like Indian clubs.
I hope you like what you see, make me smile and give me a like, comment and subscribe :-)

Some of you will already have noticed, I have a new book up on Lulu!
It is about a knife fighting method along the "Defense dans la rue" era of the early 1900s. The book contains a translation of the original text with additional content at the right place if it were mentioned by Andre but not written down, may it be it didn't fit a simple method like complex boxing footwork patterns for stop hits or were just on a different chapter of his big book!
So if you want to support my work and want something in hand for your money, buy a copy :-D

One year after the creation I noticed someone cut a clip out of my early Christmann videos. I don't know if Lydia thinks by herself it's sexy but it was my opinion, Watch the 5 seconds here:

I recently post a bouting vid wearing my "new mask overlay. I am a HEMA guy; DIY is in our DNS 😉 I just wanted a little bit more padding when drilling stick or sabre and guess what the designs from 150 years ago are still solid 😎

After my trip to Vienna and the Fechtschule in Limburg I have now five bouts recorded. And because I don't want to take up time for our knowledge based stuff on Mondays, I try my best to get them ready for a weekly upload on Thursdays instead of a HEMA short.
There will be smallsword, sabre and also rapier and rapier & dagger. Jep, it has been a while since I fenced rapier, but it's only a heavy smallsword isn't it?
We start with a very nice sabre bout with Nicos from Astnide. I got a lot of hits and land a few nice ones.

On a spontanous decision, I registered for the nearby Fencing Gathering hosted at castle Hoensbroek by the @historischschermgildelimburg tomorrow. It’s now fully booked, before you ask.
But for those who are coming, I’ll be bringing sabre, smallsword and rapier for fencing, and I’ll be giving a brief class on stopp thrusts with the sabre according to Christmann for anyone interested.

The majority of voters decided for the Barbasetti workshop by Axel. And I decided to stay at the one video per week rythem, so there will be sabre the next three weeks. But don't run away, we will use this kind of break to prepare some stick and knife stuff we were working on for you and hit back even stronger while Axel holds the "summer break".
But it make me think. We continued our Christmann series for a long time. It there still interest in sabre and especially Christmann among our subscribers? Do you want us to continue?

I am back from La Lotta dei Folli 2006 and I got some video material with me. The question is what I have to edit first.
You can choose between my workshop on “Box Libera”, a bit of fencing with Axel from Klingenspiel: smallsword or sabre; I’m also honoured to capture Axel’s crash course on Barbasetti’s sabre on film.

My trip to Vienna has come to an end at it was a great one!
I totally enjoyed 'La Lotta dei Folli' (You should have it translated if you don't speak Italian ;-) ) The atmosphere was brilliant, and so were the fencers. I gave a small workshop on the kick boxing part of Box Libera which is more or less a copycat of Lebouchers 'Savate' the Italian way. I had fun and hopefully all the participants too. noone said different, but they culd have been scared of more punches ;-)
Special thanks goes out to Elisabeth @MarozzolostinVienna and Axel from @fechtschuleklingenspiel1131 It was a pleasure to meet you in person and a pitty I did not have enough time to talk to all the others.
