We lived on the Caribbean island of St. Croix for twenty years. In 2017, we sold our home and company, shipped our car and the last of our belongings to Florida, and then hopped on a plane with four suitcases, four carry-ons, and our two dogs. We bought an RV in Albuquerque and spent the next three years traveling the country, selling jewelry at art shows and festivals. When Covid-19 hit we hunkered down in Phoenix, where Kevin worked at Amazon.
After nine months we grew restless and wanted to get back on the road. We chose to pivot.
In February 2021, Kevin got his CDL. In March, Kevin hit the road. In April, we set off together.

We are asking you to help Jon.
Jon has been a longtime member of the TJOT community. He retired from trucking in 2014 to be home with his family, but still enjoyed watching life on the road and our shenanigans on The Joy of Trucking.
Last year, his wife became disabled and could no longer work. This was devastating news for the family. Jon had to find a way to double his income to support his wife and their three daughters. He decided the fastest way to do that would be to get back into trucking.
Since he'd been off the road for a while, he had to go back through training, which he successfully completed at Prime Inc.
Just as Jon and his family were starting to get back on their feet, they got more devastating news. Jon was diagnosed with oral cancer.
Because of the intensive treatment required, he will be off the road and out of work for an extensive period of time. Unfortunately, this could mean that Jon may lose his truck lease contract with Prime Inc., and possibly even his CDL A license.
In the trucking world, if the wheels aren't turning, you aren't earning. Jon is the sole breadwinner for his household. He is solely responsible for the livelihood of his entire family. His wife and their three daughters rely on him for everything. While he focuses on the fight for his life, the bills for housing, food, and mounting medical expenses don't stop.
Given our own experience with Kevin being on medical leave for several months, we really feel for Jon.
