Detectives, we have a hotly requested case to cover, fresh off the presses...so fresh, the body isn't even cold yet.
That's because we will finally be covering Bungie's newest multiplayer shooter, one that isn't related to their most successful series...Destiny, a series we have already covered both titles concerning.
---
"The Marathon sci-fi video game series by Bungie spans four titles: the original 1990s Macintosh trilogy and the 2026 multiplayer extraction shooter reboot.
Released on March 5, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Windows, and Xbox Series X/S, the modern Marathon shifts the franchise into a PvPvE extraction shooter."
---
Marathon had the impossible task of having to keep the expensive recently purchased for $3.6 billion Bungie on their feet, and this was made even more impossible by the fact that the Destiny franchise in a shocking turn of events...would be shifted entirely into maintenance mode, with no announcements or news of a new game to come either.
Marathon has not even gotten close to being able to recoup any of the losses the company is facing, and sadly has a strong chance to face the exact same fate the Destiny shooter has...Especially when it currently has around 10% of Destiny 2s audience, a maintenance mode games audience.
Please tell me about your experiences with "Marathon" (or the series in general, if you did), what you did/didn't like about the game, and most importantly the largest contributing factors you think contributed to the game being unable to prop up Bungie...and even come close to trying to fill the void Destiny had just left. Feel free to leave a comment here if you have any thoughts or points to address. But if you want to send me a longer message concerning your experiences or thoughts you can email me at exforcegamer @ gmail.com

Howdy Detectives! Many of you know Star Wars is my favorite established IP, but I have had a severe lack of coverage of their games my channel, despite starting as a Star Wars channel! I am trying to remedy this, this year by covering as many of them as I can so please make sure to suggest more!
As for this case, we are covering a double header of Star Wars goodness...Both new Star Wars Battlefront Entries 1&2, from EA/DICE Studios... that dropped 10 years after the original series (2015 - 2017 respectively). A game series that is plagued with too many public dramas to count, but despite the unfinished rushed nature of the games...weren't that bad in the end.
---
"Star Wars Battlefront primarily refers to the highly acclaimed reboot released by EA DICE in 2015, which focuses on massive, 40-player multiplayer battles set during the original Star Wars trilogy. The game allows players to fight as infantry and pilot iconic vehicles across planets like Hoth, Endor, and Sullust, occasionally taking control of legendary Heroes and Villains."
---
In the spring of 2020, coming as a complete shock to all players, EA would announce they would no longer be creating content for the series, and would be moving both games to maintenance mode to make way for Battlefield's development at the time.
Please tell me about your experiences with "Star Wars: Battlefront 1 & 2)" (or the series in general, if you did), what you did/didn't like about the game, and most importantly the largest contributing factors you think contributed to the series being put on the shelf seemingly indefinitely after EA moved everything from both games to maintenance mode. Feel free to leave a comment here if you have any thoughts or points to address. Hola d's! We have a special, historical case for the DOAG series...SimCity is a franchise that started before I was even born (1989), and not only blew up off their first game already...especially for the time, they would put out another dozen or so titles, though ultimately only 5 mainline series...as we will detail why soon.
---
"SimCity (2013), often referred to as SimCity 5, is a real-time city-building and management simulation developed by Maxis and published by Electronic Arts. As mayor, players zone land, build roads, and manage utilities to grow a thriving metropolis. It is heavily defined by its simulation engine and multiplayer regions."
---
Following the series reboot in 2013, EA and Maxis effectively put all their eggs in the SimCity reboot working basket, instead of wanting to do any sequel titles anymore. Sadly, this reboot was a catastrophic failure for both EA and Maxis, within two years ultimately resulting in (SimCity) Maxis being shutdown completely (save their the Sims studio).
Why you can still play the game online, it's a fraction of its former self, and much smaller in comparison to what would later become its competition and spiritual successor in Cities: Skyline and its sequel.
Please tell me about your experiences with "SimCity (2013)" (or the series in general, if you did), what you did/didn't like about the game, and most importantly the largest contributing factors you think contributed to the series being put on the shelf indefinitely. Feel free to leave a comment here if you have any thoughts or points to address. Hola detectives! I am returning to the world of Nintendo, a world we don't frequent very often...but it's one that I actually enjoy quite a few titles in...one of those NOT being the Mario series, largely, but when Super Mario Maker dropped, it was the first time the series, besides Mario Odyssey had caught my attention and gave me an experience I was looking for, as I grew up playing way too many Zelda and Mario-like browser games.
---
"Super Mario Maker is a beloved Nintendo game-creation series that allows players to design, play, and share their own custom 2D Super Mario levels. You use intuitive drag-and-drop tools to build courses using iconic enemies, blocks, and power-ups, blending classic Mario gameplay with unlimited community-made content."
---
Sadly back in April of 2024 the servers for the first game were shutdown. But they launched a sequel back in June 28th 2019, Super Mario Maker 2 for the Nintendo Switch, which has mostly been abandoned since then, though its servers still remain online. That's why we are covering both on the DOAG show!
Please tell me about your experiences with "Super Mario Maker 1 & 2" (if you did), what you did/didn't like about the game, and most importantly the largest contributing factors you think contributed to the first game getting shutdown, and the second seemingly in maintenance mode. Feel free to leave a comment here if you have any thoughts or points to address. Howdy detectives! Yes, that's right...we are back so soon, that's because when mystery calls...we must answer...and there are still tons of cases for us to solve! After we covered the Among Us case, people were very suggestive in the comment section about wanting me to also cover another popular related party game, Fall Guys...and so here we are.
Fall Guys launched back in 2020, and leveraged its popularity during the pandemic...leading to it being acquired by Epic Games shortly after.
This would lead to it being removed from the Steam store, and only buyable/acquirable on the Epic Games Store.
---
"Fall Guys (Ultimate Knockout) is a free-to-play, massively multiplayer battle royale party game where up to 32+ players control colorful, bean-shaped characters, competing in chaotic obstacle courses and mini-games. Players navigate physics-based challenges, with rounds eliminating contestants until one winner remains to claim the crown."
---
After Fall Guys would be moved exclusively to Epic Games Store, it would start to lose popularity it would never regain on Steam (and the Epic Store as well)...where it now struggles to pass over a 1000 players average.
Please tell me about your experiences with "Fall Guys" (if you did), what you did/didn't like about the game, and most importantly the largest contributing factors you think contributed to the game faltering so fast and hard. Feel free to leave a comment here if you have any thoughts or points to address. Howdy howdy. I never thought anytime soon I would be saying these words...but we are covering a Civilization game, the most recent one...Civilization 7. Developed by Firaxis Games and published by 2K, Civilization 7 launched back in February of 2025, and since then it has fallen below the population of it's predecessor, Civ 6, by 4-5x the population, and half of Civilization 5s population. Making it easily the biggest flop in the series, as it would sell around 1/10 of Civ 6.
---
"Civilization VII is a major overhaul of the 4X franchise, introducing a three-age structure (Antiquity, Exploration, Modern) where players change civilizations at each era transition. Leaders are now independent of civilizations, and the gameplay focuses on managing "towns" that grow into cities, with a strong emphasis on tactical, high-definition terrain and refined diplomacy."
---
If you haven't been following the story, the summary blurb above probably already did a number to you. Yep, that's right...a Civilization game where you can't keep your Civ. This, alongside many other reasons make Civilization 7 sit at a 50% on Steam from user reviews too.
Please tell me about your experiences with "Civilization 7" (if you did), what you did/didn't like about the game, and most importantly the largest contributing factors you think contributed to the game faltering so fast and hard. Feel free to leave a comment here if you have any thoughts or points to address. Detectives, it's high time, we guarded a new case. Highguard was originally introduced mere months ago, in a major way, featured as the ending title of the Game Awards, or the TGAs, a prestigious position. This would cast a massive spotlight on the new title, developed by Wildlight Entertainment, a video game developer who featured many developers from Apex Legends, and Titanfall 1 & 2.
---
"Highguard is a PvP raid shooter where players will ride, fight, and raid as Wardens, arcane gunslingers sent to fight for control of a mythical continent."
---
The population of the game has dropped off a cliff, and is currently at under 500 players. With most of the studio having been laid off, and a skeleton crew remaining on the project, although it's been under 2 months, we have found the new "raid shooter" on the DOAG series.
This channel is a collaborative effort, as detectives work better in groups. Whether that means players or developers. Please tell me about your experiences with "Highguard" (if you did), what you did/didn't like about the game, and most importantly the largest contributing factors you think contributed to the game faltering so fast and hard. Howdy y'all, N.S. is back with another case...this time, we cover a major new launch, and then failure...one that you might not have even heard about. King of Meat presented by UK developer Glowmade, and published by giant Amazon Game Studios, who hasn't had the best personal game development track record.
King of Meat was supposed to be a party/co-op game where you co-operate through dungeons that are deadly, and can even be custom built by the players themselves...giving you the power of the player, and the DM or dungeon master. Similar in some ways to Spiral Knights. Each dungeon presents different threats, and different rewards you can use to customize your character, which you take with you to other dungeons.
---
"King of Meat is a chaotic, community-driven, four-player co-op dungeon crawler and platformer where players compete in a bizarre, high-fantasy game show by battling monsters, solving puzzles, and creating their own levels to become famous in the world of Loregok."
---
Launched on October 7th 2025 on all platforms, especially for us, Steam on PC. And although Amazon was expecting them to have 100,000 active users, the game as of now just has 3-7 players...so needless to say, heads got to rolling, and perhaps more are to come...or a shutdown of King of Meat in the near future.
This channel is a collaborative effort, as detectives work better in groups. Whether that means players or developers. Hey y'all, what if I told you Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines 1, is one of the best RPGs ever...especially a vampire themed one? Well you shouldn't be confused, as I have covered the game when covering the company behind them, Troika Games before, and they were full of talent...but due to tons of internal issues, would release a rather buggy unfinished game that would flop at release.
...but rising from the ashes, like Office Space, VTMB would eventually grow to become one of the most beloved cult classic RPGs, despite all of that. Troika would sadly fold, but people's main question still remained...Would we see another game in the VTMB universe, or a sequel to the Bloodlines series?
"Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 is a neo-noir action RPG set in a fractured, modern-day Seattle, where you play as the ancient elder vampire, Phyre (also called "The Nomad"), who awakens after 100 years in torpor to find a mysterious brand suppressing their powers and a disembodied vampire detective, Fabien, trapped in their mind."
Launched October 21st 2025, just months ago, Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines 2 has been long awaited, and hyped sequel to the iconic first VTMB, one of my favorite games ever. But unfortunately...has been a major commercial failure, leading to a $37m write down for development costs from the developer, and selling less copies than tons of cheaper, less high profile games before... After switching main developers, multiple rounds of layoffs, and even more drama...the story of VTMB2 is still unfolding as we speak.
This channel is a collaborative effort, as detectives work better in groups. Whether that means players or developers. Please tell me about your experiences with "Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines 2" (if you did), what you did/didn't like about the game, and most importantly the largest contributing factors you think contributed to the game faltering so fast and hard.
