Tell your stories, better. Unlock Your Creative Potential.
Learn from my Coffee-fuelled Adventures through the Creative industries.
With 20+ years experience working with the world’s biggest brands, making indie films, and commercial video & photo work behind me, I’m on an over caffeinated journey to rediscover my creative voice. Along the way, I want to help fellow creatives sharpen their craft, navigate the business side of creativity, and turn what they do into paying work too.

From my time at Apple, Microsoft, agency and to working on films, festivals, and immersive experiences, I’ve spent my career pushing creative boundaries. I’ve learned a lot, made plenty of mistakes, and built a reputation for shaking things up.
Now, I’m sharing that experience here. This channel explores the business of creativity, the art of storytelling, and everything in between—so you can create work that matters and make a living doing what you love.

I watched an incredible video this morning from ‪@jimkroft‬ that anyone who is an artist or creator should watch - it’s not only stunningly well made, but such a powerful message too!!

Thanks so so much for watching and all the new subscribers I’ve had in the last few weeks.. I've also had a couple of DMs over on instagram and fellow creators I know asking where I am, why I'm not posting! I had promised to make some videos about audio and presenting in response to people’s questions... and had hinted at a couple of other fun things coming, then disappeared...

So a few weeks ago I got a bad case of COVID and it knocked me out, but as I started recovering realised my energy and ability to speak (without a gravelly sore throat) were not coming back very quickly. Then a few days later I did something to my back I was in a lot of pain and have ended up in hospital this week having a number of tests to see what was wrong with me.. was it an infection an injury, they couldn't say.. so I’m in an unusually high amount of continuous pain right now. I’m now on some very strong medication to manage that... more tests incoming.

SO, if and when the new meds help me regain some energy I hope to be back on camera in a week or two, but have to be careful and not push it myself until I know WHY I'm having unbearable bouts of back pain and I'm a little less foggy headed too. (I also have client work to finish thats now a bit overdue 🤦🏼‍♂️) But yeah thats where I've been.

It's June 25th and today is "Bourdain Day" the anniversary of what would have been Anthony Bourdain's 68th Birthday. About a year ago I made this video as a tribute to him and how he influenced my life. It's gone on to be one the videos I've been contacted he most about by people who share that love of his work and whose lives were made better by it. Which absolutely blows my mind... I loved his work and loved the ethos he had, and his humour but had no other connection to him than that. I'm so grateful for the life experiences and weird connections like that just being inspired by him have brought me and indeed others I've spoken to.

So every June 25th, I take a day to slow down disconnect from the sheer craziness that is the world we live in, enjoy life, connect with friends, eat or make good food and try and plan some kind of adventure. It's not just to honour him, though that is a great catalyst and excuse to think big and plan to go places. It is also to learn from what did happen to him and make sure the mental health of my friends, family and those around me is ok too.

With that in mind, I would encourage others to do the same, check-in on someone you've not spoken to in a while, make sure anyone vulnerable around you is ok AND of course maybe invite them to be part of any grand life-affirming adventures you might be planning too.

I'm very frustrated with how big business treats small Creative Businesses - I don't know who is to blame but the system of small businesses effectively giving bigger businesses work on the promise of a future payment is very broken. I don't believe anything above NET 30 (30 day payments) should be allowed.. watch this video to find out how organisations exploit this system in a way that can double and even triple these payment terms!

A PSA for anyone shopping on Amazon for high value items; I had a HORRIBLE experience this last week when they delivered a Matcha Set & Smart scale instead of the MacBook Pro I ordered.. I have still not received a refund either! To hear the full story check out my video here:

I'm going to start sharing some of the things that inspire me, BUT don't quite make it to videos!

Throughout my career as well as being the go-to guy for how-to do creative things, solve problems and get tech working.. I've always had a lot of people come to rely on me for my general awareness of the weird, interesting and inspiring; things that are going on, odd facts you'll want to know, artists you to know about, events, experiences and more..

SO.. I'm starting a newsletter to share some of these "Creative Sparks" as I find them. I'm going to aim for at least one update a month, with more IF there is something you might otherwise miss out on to share.

I promise it will be worthwhile and it won't be spammy.
