Please read this with an open mind. These are three things I genuinely want to talk about, and I’m not making this post to start fanwars or attack anyone. I just want people to think before they speak.

Sulli's death is NOT a joke.

I’ve seen people use the phrase “Next Sulli” toward idols or people they dislike, and honestly, this needs to stop. Using the name of someone who died after experiencing immense public scrutiny and online harassment as an insult or a way to threaten/mock someone is incredibly disrespectful.

Sulli was a real person, not a meme, not an insult, and definitely not a title to give someone simply because you dislike them.

This is especially something I’ve noticed in parts of different fandom spaces, including posts involving T-ARMYs and T-MONSTIEZ. I’m not saying every person in those fandoms does this—please don’t misunderstand me. I’m talking specifically about the people who actually use her name this way.

Whatever fandom you belong to, please understand that there is a human being behind every idol you talk about. You can dislike an artist, disagree with them, or criticize something they did without turning a tragedy into a weapon.

Please let Sulli be remembered with respect. Her name deserves better than being used to hurt someone else.

𝐓𝐎𝐏𝐈𝐂 𝟐 — 𝐀𝐁𝐎𝐔𝐓 𝐂𝐀𝐋𝐋𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐁𝐋𝐀𝐂𝐊𝐏𝐈𝐍𝐊 “𝐑𝐀𝐂𝐈𝐒𝐓”

I know this is a controversial topic, so please read the entire paragraph before judging what I’m trying to say.

There have been discussions about BLACKPINK and an old trainee-era video containing a racial slur. I am NOT saying that using a racial slur is okay. It isn’t. If someone uses a word that has a deeply racist history, they should understand why it is harmful and take responsibility for it.

However, I also think there is a huge difference between criticizing someone's past actions and declaring that an entire person is permanently defined by the label “racist.”

The circumstances surrounding old trainee-era footage, what was originally intended to be private, what was known at the time, and what happened afterward all matter when discussing something this serious. We shouldn’t take short clips, assumptions, or edited posts and immediately turn them into a complete judgment of someone's entire character.

And yes, the argument “racism doesn't have an expiry date” is true in the sense that harmful behavior doesn't magically become okay just because time has passed. But that principle should also leave room for accountability, learning, growth, and genuine apologies.

At the same time, we shouldn't invent an apology that hasn't happened. If BLACKPINK haven't publicly addressed a specific leaked clip, we cannot simply assume what they know about it or what they would say if they became aware of it.

And regarding the argument that they “could have changed the word” in a song—this also needs more context. Trainees and artists often perform material selected or approved by their company, so placing every decision entirely on the individual performers may oversimplify what actually happened.

Criticism is allowed. Accountability is allowed. But throwing around an extremely serious accusation without considering context, evidence, intent, and whether someone has changed is not the same thing as having a thoughtful discussion.

You don't have to defend everything an idol has ever done to be a fan. And you don't have to hate someone to acknowledge that something they did was wrong.

Let's stop turning serious conversations about racism into fanwars.
