Today I had the opportunity to speak with students at Pulse High School in the Bronx.
Grateful to Ms. Aisa and the students for the invitation and the opportunity to share my story and my mission.
Reentry work doesn’t start when someone comes home.
It starts long before they ever go in.
One of the most important parts of my mission isn’t just helping returning citizens rebuild —
it’s working with youth early enough to prevent them from ever entering the system.
When young people are given real guidance, real examples, and real conversations about consequences, accountability, and purpose — outcomes change.
I know this because I’ve lived both sides of it.
This is why mentorship, prevention, and early intervention will always be a core part of the work I do through Made Up North and Off The Count.
This is the work.
This is the responsibility.
And this is where real change begins.
