Traffic is where riding gets real. Here are the 5 biggest mistakes I see beginner riders make out there, and the simple habits that fix them 👇

1. Sitting in neutral at red lights. Stay in first with the clutch in so you can move the second you need to. And offset to the left or right of the lane instead of parking dead center behind the car ahead.

2. Not watching your mirrors while stopped. The only thing that can hurt you at a light is coming from behind. Keep your eyes bouncing between the light and your mirrors the whole time.

3. Riding the same route every day. Your brain checks out on roads it knows too well, and more than half of crashes happen within 5 miles of home. Switch it up to stay sharp.

4. Watching the cars instead of the drivers. The car only tells you what IS happening. The driver tells you what's ABOUT to happen. Check their mirror and head first, then the front tire.

5. Blending in at night. A row of steady red lights is easy for a tired driver to miss. Tap your brake while you're stopped so the flash catches their eye.
