I don’t find it a coincidence that Autism Awareness and Acceptance month falls during Isaiah’s birthday month. It was also the month that we received his ASD and UAD diagnosis when he was 4 years old.
Autism was this scary concept at first, but with lots of love, research, patience with the process and a lot of support from loved ones, we found our new “normal.”
Isaiah is such a blessing to this world and to be his mom and help advocate for him is one of the greatest privileges of my life. I pray I continue to learn everyday to make this world more inclusive for Isaiah and people like my son.
The autistic community is an amazing one and when I see my son I see autism as being…
Unique in thought, with a mind of its own, A world full of wonder, unpredictable and unknown. To be autistic is to see and feel in a different way, A canvas of colors, a symphony to play.
