On the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York this week, His Highness the Aga Khan held talks with the President of Kenya, His Excellency William Ruto; the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif; the US Ambassador to Türkiye and Special Presidential Envoy for Syria and Iraq, Tom Barrack; and the Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator, Tom Fletcher.
The meetings provided an opportunity to continue dialogue with key partners on the work of the Ismaili Imamat and the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN), and to discuss areas of shared interest across the regions in which they serve.

DIDAR MUBARAK
Mawlana Hazar Imam yesterday granted a didar in Mumbai for the Jamat of Western India.
The Mukhi of Darkhana submitted bay‘a on behalf of the Western India Jamat.
Hazar Imam was later presented with Ark of Guidance—an art installation inspired by the Ark of Prophet Nuh (peace be upon him). It features a boat, constructed from repurposed wood and hand-embroidered fabric. The frame is covered by smaller origami boats, featuring students’ reflections on Hazar Imam’s guidance.
Earlier in the day, Mawlana Hazar Imam visited Darkhana in Mumbai.
The Darkhana in Mumbai is one of the oldest Jamatkhana buildings still in existence in the world today. It was established in 1848 and became the first Jamatkhana ever designated as a Darkhana. It was given this status by Mawlana Hasan Ali Shah in 1870.
The takht-nishini of Mawlana Sultan Mahomed Shah was held at Darkhana on 1 September 1885, and the takht that our 48th Imam sat on that day is still there today.

In the afternoon session, the Mukhi of Junagadh Headquarters Jamatkhana submitted bay‘a on behalf of the Southern Saurashtra Jamat.
Following the afternoon didar, Hazar Imam was presented with an art installation titled Blooms of Gratitude, featuring more than 10,000 flowers, arranged to form the word Shukr. Thousands of senior citizen members of the Jamat and people with disabilities came together across various Jamatkhanas and Learning Resource Centres to participate in creating the piece.
