So I don't usually get teary eyed at cons, but this guy told me a story (hopefully I'm remembering the details correctly) about how he was stationed in Korea and that he and other members in his platoon would often watch a lot of my work. Around Christmas time they watched the review where my mother gave advice about what to do if you're not around family during the holidays. She said reaching out and helping others is a wonderful way to feel fulfilled around that time of year.
After he watched it with other members of his platoon, they decide to reach out and connect with members of the Air Force who they hadn't grown that strong a connection with yet. My mom's words meant so much that he gave me these Air Force coins as a means of to say thanks. It's this kind of stuff I know my mother loved and no doubt put a smile on her face where ever she is.
