Most people hear Nigerians speak Pidgin… but they miss the real meaning.

I break down what Nigerians actually mean in everyday conversations so you don’t misunderstand tone, intention, or emotion.

This is not just language learning.
This is communication decoding for real-life situations in Nigeria.

What you’ll learn here:
• What common Nigerian phrases actually mean
• How tone changes meaning completely
• Why “simple words” are often misunderstood
• How Nigerians really communicate in daily life

Example breakdowns:
• “Abeg” isn’t just “please”
• “I dey come” doesn’t always mean you are coming
• “No wahala” depends on situation, not words

Who this is for:
• People dating Nigerians
• Foreigners moving to Nigeria
• Anyone tired of misunderstanding conversations
• People who want real cultural clarity, not textbook language

Stop translating words. Start understanding it!

You think “sharp” means fast…
It doesn’t.

In Nigerian Pidgin, “sharp” is not about speed.
It’s agreement. Recognition. Understanding.
It’s that quiet “I hear you” in conversation.
Not “I’m rushing.” Not “I’m quick.”
So if you’re reading it as speed…

you’re already missing the meaning.
And this is exactly where most confusion starts

people translate words literally instead of reading intent.
That’s part of what I break down in my Pidgin decoding guide.

Someone just said:

“‘how far’ means how are you / how’s it going.”

And they’re not wrong…

But that’s only the surface meaning.

In real Nigerian conversations, “how far” is not just a question.

It’s an entry signal.

It can mean:
• what’s going on?
• what’s the situation?
• talk to me
• I’m opening a conversation

Same words.

Different intention.

And this is where most people get confused…

Because they focus on translation instead of interpretation.

Pidgin is not about dictionary meaning.

It’s about what the speaker is doing with the words.

That’s why two people can say the same thing…

and mean completely different things.

If you’ve ever misread a conversation before…

this is usually why.

Most people think Pidgin is about vocabulary.
That’s not the issue.
The issue is interpretation.

Tribes Who remembers this sweet!? 🎉😅 I can’t get enough of it

You think “How far?” Means distance

and you actually go ahead to start explaining how you trekked from Yaba to Toll gate..
What you don’t realize is that…

When Nigerians say “How far?” They’re not talking about distance.

That’s why people react to you differently!

And the truth is most of you don’t even realized this!

Imagine a big-money deal is on the line. You’re in the room. The air is tight.

The "Oga" is sitting there, looking like he’s about to drop a bag. Then he just turns his head slightly, looks you dead in the eye, and drops two words:
"Zino, how far?"

That’s it. No "Good morning," no "Did you see my email?" Just the weight of that question hanging in the air.

If you’re a "learner," you’ll start sweating. You’ll think, "How far what? My health? My family? The traffic?

But if you have that Naija Ear, you don't even blink. You know he’s not asking how your mama is doing. He’s asking for that 50-million-naira update you both discussed at 2 AM.

The "How far" is a silent contract. It’s the ultimate vibe check.

While the "Oga" is waiting,
you don't give him a lecture. You just lean in and give him the result. Boom. Deal closed.

The outsiders in the room are looking at both of you like you’re speaking a secret code. And honestly? You are. That’s the "If You Know, You Know" edge. You’re not just an employee; you’re a mind reader. You’re moving at the speed of light while everyone else is still waiting for the subtitles.

That’s the brand. We don’t teach you how to speak; we teach you how to hear what wasn’t said.

So if a high level Nigerian client drops a “how far”on yo without any context what do you think thr person is talking about? Or asking for without needing any English translation
