Good morning, friends. Happy Monday!

We live right beside a huge cotton field. I’ve grown up around cotton farming. My family worked the fields. When I was growing, some of my fondest memories are of playing in the cotton wagons with my cousins. If you have my book “Sweet Tea and Second Helpings,” you can read a story that Amy wrote about my memories of growing up and farming cotton. There are also some pictures of my family in the cotton fields.

The cotton is starting to bloom and pop open. Before long, our front yard will be blanketed in white. Here are 3 pictures that show the progression of cotton as it grows. It starts as a bloom, then turns into a boll. The boll finally bursts open to reveal the white cotton. It’s a beautiful process, and I am blessed to get to see it every day. I wanted to get to share it with my friends. I hope you have a wonderful day.

HAPPY SUNDAY!

Harold and I are so blessed to get to go to church with Chris and his family this morning. We sure have a lot to be thankful for.
We are especially thankful that Blake came through his brain surgery and is smiling just like he always does. Thank you all so much for your prayers. I hope you know how much they mean to us and how grateful we are for each of you.
God’s Word reminds us to “give thanks in all circumstances”—not necessarily for all circumstances, but in all circumstances. Today, let’s pause and be thankful simply for the blessing of waking up to another day. God is good, and we are blessed beyond measure.

Ok y’all. I need your help. The return of the Sister Schubert sausage rolls got me thinking. What are some things that have been discontinued or removed from menus or stores that you wish would make a comeback? I’ll go first. I will forever miss Chick-Fil-A coleslaw and their chicken salad sandwich. I know they have shared the recipe for both, but I miss being able to buy them in the restaurant. I know I have lots more, so maybe I will share them when I read your comments. A restaurant that I miss would be Quincy’s. I sure did love those “big, fat yeast rolls.”

Leave a comment and let’s see what everyone misses. This will be fun.

Good morning, friends!

Last night, I got a text from Amy. When I opened it, this picture is what I saw. She said, “Mama! They are back! I’m in Publix and look what they have! Shawn is going to be thrilled.”

If you are like us, then you know how big of a deal this is. We have missed the Sister Schubert Sausage Rolls ever since they stopped making them. Homemade pigs in a blanket are good, but these are the BEST. They are back in stores, just in time for tailgating and football. Do you love these things like we do?

ust got this from Chris....

I just heard from Chris and this is what he said: “He’s done. The docs are meeting with us now. Said it went great. Was a lot of pressure that instantly released. As soon as he gets in recovery they will come get us.”

I feel like I can exhale now. Thank you all so much for your comments, messages, and especially your prayers. They mean more than you will ever know.❤️

I included this precious picture of our little man from before his surgery.

Good morning, friends! Happy Wednesday!

In a few hours, our precious Blake will be having surgery. I am asking that each of you call his name in prayer. He is a miracle and God has already used him in ways that I can’t even believe. Pray for him, all of the doctors and surgeons, and for his parents. They are the strongest people I know.

Call his name today, please. I appreciate that more than you know.

Good morning, friends!

Amy and Shawn are trying to lose weight. They are both focusing on upping their protein. Amy found these cheese sticks and got them, and they really like them. They always keep string cheese on hand for an easy snack, but these are 17g of protein each. That’s great! You know that I like to share our finds, so I wanted to share this with you.

If you have any suggestions for ways/foods to add extra protein, please share them. I am trying to follow suit and up my protein as well. Amy has replaced all of their milk with Fairlife milk, but I don’t drink milk. I need all the suggestions that I can get, and I know that Amy and Shawn will appreciate them as well. Looking forward to reading your comments to help with our protein intake.

As I have already mentioned, some sweet friends and I loaded up on Saturday to drive to Columbus, GA to see the inspiration behind Theo of Golden. We had the best time! We walked through the bookstore that the Verbivore was based on, and ate lunch at Fountain City Coffee. The Chalice in the book was patterned after it. It even had the portraits hanging on the walls. It was amazing! Theo is such a wonderful book, and I really do want to live my life more like Theo. If you have read the book, then you know. If you haven’t, well, you need to. It’s probably the best book that I have ever read. I know I have posted about it a lot, but it’s just that good. What books have you read that stayed with you like Theo has stayed with me?

Good morning, friends. Happy Monday!

The heat index today is 112. 112! It feels like you are walking into an oven outside already this morning. I am praying for the folks who work outside in this. It’s miserable.

I am officially over summer and ready for all things fall. I usually start my fall decorating in September, but I am ready to drag it out and start now. What about you? When do you decorate for fall? Do you just decorate for fall, or do you combine fall and Halloween? I love to read what all my friends do. Leave a comment and let me know.
