Yesterday, Amy and Amy and I went to our monthly watercolor class at the Westover Library/Senior Center. For this class, we got to paint a butterfly on a flower of our choosing. I painted an iris, and Amy painted a magnolia. I think they both turned out lovely. We have the best time each month. Our teacher, Sandy, is amazing, and we love getting to fellowship with our friends. This month, Amy’s best friend, Brigitte was out of town. Her mother, Shirley, was there, and her best friend Charlotte came too. We aren’t artists, by any means, but we sure do have fun! What do you think about our “masterpieces?” 🎨
It’s such a beautiful day here in central Alabama, and I hope you’re able to enjoy some of this lovely weather in the days ahead. I’m getting the itch to plant tomatoes, but I’m going to hold off just a little longer. Spring is my favorite time of year….it brings such a fresh sense of joy and renewal.
Last night, Harold and I went out for supper at a bbq place. The temps warming up always makes me think of bbq. Anyway, you can see his plate in front of him, and mine is the closest one here. Had Shawn been there, he would have gotten his bbq sliced, not chopped. How do you prefer your bbq?
Sliced 🔪 or Chopped🔨
Also, if you were choosing 2 sides, what would you pair with yours? You see Harold got baked beans and fries, and I got baked beans and slaw. What would your ideal 2 sides be?
Hello friends. Happy Saturday! I hope that all finds you well. As you see, Roxie the Porch Goose is sporting her Easter finest. I just love her, and I am having the best time dressing her up. It’s so much fun and makes me feel like a child again.
Sadly, Roxie and her wardrobe are the only things worth displaying about my front porch. Just look at it! I can’t believe I am sharing this “before” picture, because it looks so bare and blah. The only reason I am doing it is to motivate me to get my hind end in gear and get busy decorating it. When I finish I will share a picture.
Sometimes I know exactly what to post, and sometimes I have so much I want to share that I don’t know where to start. I have a lot of ideas, but I can’t make a decision. I need some direction. I don’t know what to post, so I need your help. Tell me what you would most like to see.
1. Recap of Shawn and Amy’s Disney trip 2. My Easter decorations 3. Outside tour of my yard here at the beginning of spring (before all the work is done)
Leave me a comment with your vote. Everything will eventually be shared, but I need to know where you want me to start. Have a sensational Saturday!
If you are interested in getting a Roxie for yourself, I am including the link where I purchased mine. She brings me so much joy!
It’s the FIRST DAY OF SPRING! I am so excited I can hardly stand it. I love all of the seasons, but spring may just be my favorite. Spring means new growth and things coming back to life.
Do you propagate plants? Amy and I do. Both of us always have plant clippings in jars and bottles in our kitchen window. The other day I helped her transfer some clippings that she’s been growing all winter into pots. Now she has several new plants that will soon be full and lush.
Propagation always makes me think of God you take a little something, often a tiny clipping that could never live on its own. When it’s plugged into the right source (water and sunlight), in time, it grows and develops roots of its own. It can even multiply and produce more growth. That’s how we are in God. Alone, we are nothing. When we attach ourself to Him, His word, and get still - growth happens! I told you all I love to garden, and I feel close to the Lord when I do.
This might seem like rambling, and if it does, I’m sorry. I have found that you can see God in practically anything…if you look for Him. Where do you see Him today? Let me know. I look forward to reading your thoughts.
Yesterday was the best day. I had so much fun at Mandy’s home fellowshipping and painting with her. I am going to include pictures from our visit. Remember how she assured me that I couldn’t mess up my cross and that she would “zhuzh” it up for me? Well she “zhuzhed” it, all right. It is beautiful! I can’t wait to hang it up.
If you aren’t already following her, I am linking her info. Go give her a follow, say hi, and tell her that Mama Sue sent you. She has the cutest things, and they just make you happy. Everyone needs a little happy every now and then.
What are you doing today? Leave me a comment and let me know. Also, look at Mandy’s incredible paint collection. I was in awe seeing how she made something functional (her paint storage) so beautiful! Let’s play a little game based on that incredible paint shelf. What’s your favorite color? Leave me a comment and let me know. I’ll go first. My favorites are blue and yellow. 💙💛
Hello friends! What did you do for lunch today? I met Angela and Anita for lunch at Edgar’s. You all know Angela, and if you have ever called our office, Anita is the person that you talk to. She got to see my new book in person today for the first time. If you preordered your book, they have started shipping now. 🙌🏼 I cannot wait for you to see it and let me know what you think. This book is completely unlike any of my previous ones. It doesn’t just have recipes; it is full of stories of my life that you have never heard before, as well as family photographs and pictures of each recipe.
So many people saw the unboxing video yesterday and have called the office wanting to order the book. We don’t have any books on hand to sell. All orders must be placed through Hoffman Media. You can click the link that I am including, or call the toll-free number if you don’t want to order online. Thanks for always supporting me, and I can’t wait to hear what you think about my new book.
To order this book: My new cookbook Sweet Tea and Second Helpings can be pre-ordered by calling Customer Service: 1-800-361-8059 or go to: www.mamasuebook.com. Good Morning Friends! When I taught school, St. Patrick’s Day was always fun…but not for the kids who didn’t wear green. I had to keep the safe from pinches all day. 🤏🏼🤦🏻♀️
After our haul video from Sweet Pickins on Saturday, so many of you wanted to see how Amy used her items in her decorating. I went over there yesterday afternoon and took a few pictures of the things that I could see. I would have never thought of using any of these things as decorations, but Amy just sees things differently. I love every single thing that she did. I hope she doesn’t mind me sharing the with my friends. 😉 (she won’t)
Amy loves to incorporate all things old and vintage into her home, and I love that. What is your favorite thing here? If you also enjoy using older items in your decorating, tell (and show) us how. It’s always fun to see what my friends are doing.
Happy Monday friends! Welcome back to winter. 🤷🏻♀️💨🥶 Here in Alabama we had on shorts on Saturday, and it is blustery and freezing today. I am hoping this will be our last cold snap and we’ll be back to spring temperatures again soon.
I have a doctor’s appointment this morning, and I have a few errands to run. One thing I am going to do is grab a few more of these. Have you tried them yet? If not, you need to! They are complete little meal bowls. They even come with a fork, so they are perfect to eat on the go. They’re on the aisle with all the tuna. They have about 4 different flavors, but these 2 are my favorites. If you try one, let me know what you think.
Good morning, friends! Happy Wednesday! Last night was our Mahjong League night, and as you may have already seen, I got a Mahjong! We always have the best time. Each time we play, it gets a little easier. I am still nowhere near an expert, but I’m not totally lost anymore. Our theme was St. Patrick’s Day. Sweet Codie did the meal and it was all incredible. I love this new hobby and I look forward to our “tuesdaytiles”
