I love clothing. In my quest for dresses, suits, and skirts that I love, I've embarked on a creative sewing journey encompassing vintage sewing, historical clothing, Haslam-inspired designs, and a recent fabric haul that breathed life into my Victorian dress and bustle dress dreams. Sewing vintage dresses, skirts, shirts, suits, coats, and nightgowns has allowed me to experiment with retro-style and historical fashion. You will see a full range of sewing through many time periods starting with the Victorian Era, especially the Gilded Age, through the 1950s. I’ve changed needles 3 times. I’ve run out of thread twice. I’ve done over 8 hours of pleating. I have stitch ripped. I am covered in string because I’ve worn apparently velcro and everything is sticking to me. It’s bad enough that the son noticed. And laughed. And pointed. I have changed my mind a million times. I have 21 feet of ruffle. Like after it was ruffles it is 21 feet. I have at least 4 poofs on my butt.
And then I realized that I have a stripped brown silk chiffon in my closet stash. 6 yards
This dress is now not extra. It’s going to be epic.
I’m now full on going for I could go to Fifth Avenue Ball in 1885. I am edited film now and hope to have this episode up on Friday.
