Enjoyed this Christmas classic yesterday evening! I’ve always had a soft spot for Returns. It was my wife’s first time seeing it. Her review; ‘Loved Catwoman and Penguin. Great cinematography and set design, but the crowd scenes make it look like Gotham has 50 residents in total.’

Hey, all! My apologies for the lack of videos recently. I’ve had my nose to the grindstone finishing my next comic. Will have the last Millar vid up soon. In the meantime, here’s a few photos from the Hideaki Anno exhibition I visited last month. It covered his entire career from his student work, his work on Nausicaä, Royal Space Force, Gunbuster (this one was new to me and looks brilliant) and of course, Evangelion! It was one of the most inspiring experiences I’ve ever had and has really pushed me to try and go above on beyond on my current comic, the cast of which is 80% giant robots! YouTube only allows for 5 photos but I’ll share more when I can. In the meantime, what of you all been up to? What are some of your favorite anime and manga? And can you make heads or tails of Evangelion??!!

According to my notes, I read 408 comics in 2023. I think roughly 150 to 200 were for the Mark Millar retrospective. The rest were for fun! Though most are older books, here’s some of the series I really enjoyed reading last year. What were some of your top reads of 2023?

Some of the reading I did in 2023. Got introduced to the works of Gene Wolfe and Adrian Tchaikovsky in late 2022 and they are quickly becoming two of my favorite authors. Wolfe’s ‘Book of the New Sun’ series is unlike anything I’ve ever read before and although I feel it could never be adapted into a visual medium due to the unique way the story and world unfold, an attempt at a comic was made by Innovation Publishing. I may cover it here on the channel when I’ve finished reading the novel series. Comics or books, what were some of your favorite reads of 2023? And what’s on your reading pile for 2024?

This week’s purchases! Chuffed to have some good looking indies to pick up (and a little known book by the name of ‘Transformers’). Been really looking forward to ‘Petrol Head’ #2. ‘Our Bones Dust’ cover pulled me in, no idea what it’s about and ‘Bloodrik’ just looks like some straightforward badassery. What’s on your pull list at the moment? Any recommendations?

Got Andrew Maclean’s ‘Snarlagon’ in the post last week. One of the smoothest Kickstarter experiences I’ve had. Really looking forward to digging into this over the weekend. Probably going to revisit Headlopper too. What’s on your reading pile at the moment?
