Hey there folks, wanted to let you all know we may be looking at some structural changes here in the pretty near term. As a result, I anticipate taking at least a short break from video creation (might be longer). Heath-wise I am fine, so don't worry about that. Just probably past time to change some things. Thanks for being here and for supporting the channel!

Hey folks, if you caught the last Headlines you know this already, but I'm heading out on a much needed vacation over the week of the 10th. I should be back making things the following week (including, I hope, an update on the payment processor story with a read-through analysis of Trump's new Executive Order). Let me know if there's anything else you'd like me to hit either on the VL or headlines side of things. Have a good one and thanks, as always, for being here in support! -Rick

Re the thread I just posted:
I really am tremendously sorry that I haven't been able to create in a while. I'm working through what I can and can't do and solo creation is by far the hardest thing remaining for me (which is why you see me more on Bitcast and Last Stand right now). I'm going to try to find a cadence that works, but my firm/home/family responsibilities still have to come first and are taking the bulk of my time right now. I *am* sorry and I appreciate all your support more than you'll ever know. -Rick

For those not on Twitter, a short thread:
Folks I know it's a big business and law day in video game land and that really should mean #VirtualLegality, but to be frank I'm not up for it at present so I'll give you my TLDR thoughts here:
Apple v Epic: ...long story short, the Court looks like they felt Apple was playing games and offending the Court is about the worst thing you can do.
I don't think the Court's decision will hold up on appeal (emotionally driven/exceeds authority), but while you can push the bullet back into the gun, it's a lot harder to fix the wound it just made.
Xbox prices: Like the PS5 Pro setting the Switch pricing window before it, so too has Nintendo's pricing regime given 'permission' for Xbox to up-jump its prices as well.
Further, with confusion about the economy and tariffs running rampant, every industry participant has a useful scapegoat to cover any increasing pain points they want to manifest.
As always, the market will bear what the market will bear, and if I were sitting in these board rooms now does seem to be a clear window to run things up, even if I personally think 'leisure' likely can't support these prices against 'food' and 'shelter' in the near term.
Polygon and Giant Bomb: The economy is not just for consumers and as investment becomes more 'tight' personal and 'vanity' type projects get a closer inspection.
I'm on the side that we need journalists (I'm not 'media must die'), but it's been clear for a while that the 'cultural analysis' and 'personalities play games' subsectors were niche-ing downward so it's not an enormous surprise to see investors agree.
Still sad for those affected, of course, but as the industry 'corrects' we can expect to see adjacent industries (media, accessories, streaming platforms) do the same.
I say we will come out all the stronger, but 'doom and gloom' will likely be the sense from some corners for some time.
I think that's all I had. Go play Expedition 33 and Hundred Line.

What do you get when the executive seeks to cut off appropriated funding, a US district court seeks to force it, and the Supreme Court throws up its hands? A Virtual Legality.

Hey folks, I don't generally recommend seeking comments from the Internet to make your day, but Mrs Hoeg Law has a rather big birthday coming up, and I know she'd love it if she heard from any of you how great she is or how she may have positively impacted you (don't worry, I'll certainly be telling her too). So if you'd like to leave a comment here for her, please do, and I will present some to her as part of her birthday festivities. Thank you so much! -Rick
EDIT: I won't be able to like (and subscribe to) all of the wonderful comments you all have left, but I want to say, as sincerely as I can, thank you. It will do her heart good to see all the warmth and love here.
