Hello! I'm Kathleen Bailey, a Canadian mom of 5 children ages 11-20. I homeschool the three youngest, the older two are adults. Here in Southwestern Ontario I have been a blogger for 18+ years. Although I'm not new to YouTube, I'm newly recreating this channel to represent all of my blogs and our homeschool life.
I will be sharing what we use in our homeschool and cool new ideas for making teaching fun. I'm fairly new to homeschooling but I'm not new at teaching children. Nope, I'm not a teacher either! I was a Girl Guide Leader for 18 years and I helped girls and young women learn their program in a fun way.

Twas the night before homeschool, all quiet and still,
No backpacks to pack, no morning alarms shrill.
The children were nestled all snug in their beds,
While visions of Math problems danced in their heads.
The lesson plans were stacked by the desk with care,
In hopes that knowledge soon would be shared.
And I, with my laptop, and books in a heap,
Had just settled down for a planning session, deep.
When out in the hallway there arose such a clatter,
I sprang from my chair to see what was the matter.
Away to the door, I flew like a flash,
And opened it wide with a curious dash.
The moon shining down on the freshly trimmed lawn,
Gave a luster of projects, waiting to be drawn.
And what to my wondering eyes did appear,
But a group of homeschoolers, spreading cheer.
With a little old teacher, so lively and quick,
I knew in a moment it must be St. Nick.
More rapid than eagles his students they came,
And he encouraged them, calling them by name:
"Now, Susan! Now, David! Now, Emily and Kyle!
On, Sarah! On, Michael! Let's go that extra mile!
From History to Science, English and Art,
Let's dive into knowledge, let's make a fresh start!"
As leaves that before the wild hurricane fly,
They soared through the lessons, reaching for the sky.
So up to the rooftop, his students they flew,
With a sack full of textbooks, and St. Nicholas too.
And then in a twinkling, I heard on the roof,
The giggling and whispering, a sound so aloof.
As I drew in my head, and was turning around,
Down the chimney, St. Nicholas came with a bound.
He was dressed in a tweed suit, from head to toe,
And his backpack was filled with stories to sow.
A bundle of pens he had flung on his back,
And he looked like a scholar, ready to attack.
His eyes, how they twinkled! His smile was so merry!
His love for teaching, there was no need to query.
His droll little mouth, drawn up like a bow,
Showed the passion and joy of knowledge bestowed.
He spoke not a word, but went straight to his task,
Delivering lessons, making sure no question was asked.
He filled all the minds with curiosity and glee,
And gave them the tools to learn independently.
And I heard him exclaim, as he drove out of sight,
"Happy Homeschooling to all, and to all a good night!"
With a heart full of gratitude, and a mind full of cheer,
I thanked St. Nicholas, for making learning so dear.
