FabCon Vienna was easily one of the best events I've been to.

And this year, the European edition is getting even bigger.

FabCon Europe and SQLCon Europe are joining forces in Barcelona, September 28 to October 1. One ticket, two conferences under the same roof.

๐Ÿ”น 4000+ Microsoft data professionals
๐Ÿ”น 130+ expert-led sessions
๐Ÿ”น 100+ speakers
๐Ÿ”น Microsoft Fabric, SQL Server, Azure SQL, data engineering, governance and more

What made Vienna so good last year was not just the sessions. It was the people. You get to meet the community and the product teams face to face, and get answers straight from the people building the platform.

If you work with Microsoft data tools, this is the one event in Europe worth planning your autumn around.

๐Ÿšจ I have a special discount code: use FABRICFORGE when registering and you get 300โ‚ฌ off your ticket.

Autonomous AI agents are already here. And they are ready to join your data team. ๐Ÿค–

On Wednesday's Fabric Forge weekly call I will demo my two-agent setup, live on screen:

1๏ธโƒฃ A dev agent picks up a ticket and builds the feature
2๏ธโƒฃ A review agent goes through the pull request and flags issues
3๏ธโƒฃ I sit at the merge gate and approve the merge

Nobody is prompting these agents. They wake up from Azure DevOps events.
A work item lands on the board, and the dev agent starts building. The pull request opens, and the review agent starts reviewing.
No human typing instructions while they work. They follow the project conventions and the architecture, and get the feature done.

During the call I will also share my thoughts on:

โœ… How to get started with autonomous agents in your own projects
โœ… How to set guardrails so the agents stay inside the lines
โœ… Where the human still belongs in the loop

As always, members bring their own scenarios and questions, and we discuss what this means for real Fabric teams.

Fully automated AI agent workflow for Microsoft Fabric ๐Ÿค–

Did you know that you can already automate your development work with autonomous AI agents?

In next week's Premium member call, we cover a development workflow where two autonomous agents do the work. One agent handles the development, and one agent handles the code review. The human just creates a task on the DevOps board, and the agents trigger and handle the rest: feature branch, feature workspace, data load with validation, pull request, and the review. The only step left for the human is approving the merge.

I got the whole loop running end to end this week, with both agents running as service principals with scoped permissions, so we will be walking through a real working setup.

In the call we will go through:

โœ… The full workflow live: from a task on the board to a merged pull request
โœ… How to design the agents: their instructions, their toolbox, and the knowledge base they work from
โœ… The guardrails you should have in place, because hallucinations are always possible: scoped identities, branch policies, deterministic scripts, and a review agent from a different vendor
โœ… What broke along the way and what I would design differently

CI/CD in Microsoft Fabric sounds straightforward. Until you actually have to design a deployment process that works for your team. ๐Ÿ˜…

And then the same question comes up almost every time:

Deployment Pipelines are built into Fabric. Low setup, UI-driven, and you can promote content from Dev to Test to Prod without much engineering effort.

fabric-cicd is a code-first Python library on top of the Fabric APIs. Git becomes the source of truth and deployments run from Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions.

Both are valid choices. But they fit very different teams and situations.

Tomorrow's Fabric Forge weekly call takes a practical look at exactly this:
โœ… What CI/CD actually means and the different approaches you can take
โœ… How Deployment Pipelines work, where they fit well, and where they don't
โœ… Building custom deployment processes with fabric-cicd or Fabric APIs
โœ… The benefits and drawbacks of each approach for small teams vs larger organizations
โœ… Development and deployment patterns for different types of Fabric projects
โœ… The biggest headaches and pain points we have run into with CI/CD in Fabric

As always, members bring their own scenarios, architectures, and questions. We discuss what approach we would choose for different situations, what we would avoid, and why.
