DJ Lag, known as the “Gqom King”, is a pioneering South African producer and DJ credited with globalizing the raw, percussive sound of Gqom. Rising from Durban’s underground to the world stage, he’s become a driving force in global electronic music.
His 2022 debut album Meeting with the King introduced “Gqom 2.0” — blending Amapiano, Afro House, and Afro Tech — and earned critical acclaim and a SAMA nomination. In 2023, his viral hit “Hade Boss” surpassed 20 million streams and achieved multi-platinum status.
