We worry too much about numbers.

How many followers, subscribers, amount in the bank and well I could go on infinitum about the way we let numbers control our lives.

Then there are the numbers we ignore.. for me,
for about two years I’ve been low key ignoring the number of comments that go unanswered here.

I’m embarrassed because in that same time mentioned above I did a whole bunch of fretting about views, impressions and likes. Here. In the same space where thousands of comments have gone unanswered.

And so I’m here to say I’m feeling a distinct call to build into my schedule, time to respond to all comments in a reasonable amount of time.

Because how can I wax poetic about the amazing-ness of this community if I’m not present enough?

So friends hold me accountable.

Ideas, IDEAS!?!

This weeks video begins a big conversation-how are we supposed to develop our painting ideas?

In my darkest times, when making art seemed like a chore mountain I simply couldn’t climb, ideas were the stumbling block…Because in my darkest days, big, wow-factor, novel ideas just weren’t coming and because I subscribed to the “it has to be 100% original to be worthy of my time and effort” mentality, I simply didn’t paint. My joyful habit became a practice I eventually outright avoided.
