Campfire Stories

Campfire Stories is a cinematic journey into the heart of human experience and ecological consciousness. Curated by documentary filmmaker Mattias Olsson, the channel features films and long-form conversations with thought leaders such as Charles Eisenstein, Vandana Shiva, and Stephen Jenkinson. Topics range from regenerative agriculture, permaculture, and simplified living to tiny house & off-grid life, poetry, storytelling, and systems change. Each episode invites you to slow down, reflect, and reconnect—with nature, community, and purpose. Whether you’re exploring alternative lifestyles or seeking deeper perspectives on the world we live in, these stories offer inspiration and insight. Gather around the campfire and discover a new narrative.

Campfire Stories

Hello everyone!

I'd like to hereby invite you to the release event for the film Radical Neighbouring. We'll meet up on Zoom on June 1st @ 11 am EST / 5 pm CET. Adam Wilson (from the film) and I (the director and producer) will introduce the film, and then we'll release it here on Youtube. After watching it we'll re-gather in the Zoom window for a Q & A.

Here's your link to join the call: (meeting has already taken place)

BTW, I've now launched "memberships" on this channel. Everyone who's a member will continue to get invited to the release events that'll precede every Campfire Stories film drop here. As a member there's some other perks too but the biggest one, I reckon, is that you get to be someone who supports our continued film producing capabilities.

There's two levels: reduced rate (Friend) and regular rate (Ally). Both receive the same access.

Welcome aboard!

Campfire Stories

Our newest film "Radical Neighbouring" will be released on Youtube on June 1st. But you can already see it at our website: www.campfire-stories.org/radical-neighbouring

Synopsis: What do humans who aren't consumers look like? What happens when we find ways of feeding ourselves and each other without buying or selling food? Sand River Community Farm is an experiment in gift economy and community building. Ever since farmer Adam Wilson was offered $500K from a community member to take this piece of land off the market, the food from this place has been offered as a gift to the neighbours and strangers who find their way here. Welcome to the farm where nothing is for sale.

Campfire Stories

This month's addition to the "Something Beautiful for the World"-series is something out of the ordinary.

Rarely, if ever, will you find a film on grief that is as raw and poetic – yet both available and compelling – as this one. Antoinette, who's the film's leading lady, shares skills of the kind that nobody wants to ever need – but most of us will end up needing nonetheless.

"Beauty of Surrender", by Michael and Justine of Reflections of Life, is a beautifully crafted and strangely uplifting story. I hope you’ll love it as much as I do.

"The Shoe Shop"

Campfire Stories

Hi everyone! Mattias from Campfire Stories here. Just wanted to make sure you don't miss the latest release from the "Something Beautiful for the World"-series. We're now up to episode four out of twelve, and this one comes from our colleagues at Reflections of Life in South Africa.

The story features poet Anis Mojgani, who occasionally hosts spoken word evenings – – through his apartment window! And the amazing thing is how people show up for these things, unfazed by cold weather and other such details, with their camping chairs and thermoses handy. It's a thing of beauty!

If you haven't already, I suggest you subscribe to our partners for this series, Happen Films (and Reflections of Life (, so you won't miss any upcoming episodes.

And if you're wondering "What series, what is this thing he's talking about?", well, here's the full playlist, including a trailer:
