After a summer of zero progress and a whole lot of overgrowth, the MazdaRu is officially leaving the Bad Ideas Garage.
We’ve got some cool plans for its next chapter — unfortunately, they won’t be with us. But this little beast is going to bring a lot of joy (and probably some chaos) to its next caretakers.
Once everything’s finalized, I’ll make sure to share where it ends up. For now… here’s one last look before it rolls away.

What’s in your garage?
We have a 1981 Subaru GL that has a built EJ22 swap, 5 speed, and limited slip upgrade. It’s my first car and was featured with @Hagerty for their last car of the year award.
We also have a 1998 Mercedes C43 AMG that’s been cut into a “Ute” after a fairly major accident a few years ago. It was my track car and we couldn’t let it get crushed! It was run in the Gambler 500 as well before we tried to “make it nice” again.
We also drive a Mazda 3 and Mazda CX-5 as our daily drivers.

Avants is a growing group of car enthusiasts with a mantra “Drive Everything” and they mean it. Our 1998 Mercedes C43 AMG Ute conversion was featured in their most recent magazine!
