Early this year I lost my cousin/second-brother, Garry. I wrote this song for him and its the last song on the new album. As kids, we were always together, completely wild and psychotic and usually causing complete havoc wherever we were. One day I went to his house and he had this giant new trampoline in his backyard. He got really good at doing front flips (in addition to everything else he tried) but I was incapable and terrified. So he said to me “jump as high as you can, close your eyes and just start flipping”. So I did and landed face first on the metal rail, went temporarily blind, bleeding everywhere and I ran around the yard screaming “I’M GOING TO FUCKING DIE!!!!” as my aunt tried to figure out what to do. I broke my face and had to wear a nose cast to school. I wore glasses thinking it would cover it up (it didn’t). Those words were one of the first things that came to mind when I got the news at 6:30am that morning that he was gone, and it immediately started to snow. Those words were pretty profound for a 13 year old. During the “Los Angeles” part in this take something unexplainable happened. The sun swallowed me up, everything went black and it felt like electricity in my veins. You can sort of tell. Thanks for coming by and being everywhere now, love you Gar.
