as you may know, i spent a year in solitude, writing twelve songs over twelve months in twelve different locations all around the world.
i also read a lot of books, saw a lot of nature, made a bunch of videos and took a few photos along the way. it was without a doubt the best year of my life.
three of these songs have been officially released over the last little while and i wanted to find a way to have all of these things in one place as the remaining songs are released over the next months leading up to the launch of the new album next year.
paul finch, one of my best friends, has designed the new website where you can go and visit each location from the project. you can hear some thoughts from me on my time there, see some photos and a bunch of videos and also find the studio versions of each song as they are released.
paul has spent a lot of hours coming up with this idea and putting it all in place and getting it working in such a clever and practical way and i love it so much!! it's such a beautiful way to tap into the world of solitude.

Solitude has a way of bringing things to your mind that haven’t been present for the longest time. This song draws from my deep past and has me asking my younger self, current self and future self, ‘who are you?’. It’s a question that seemed to appear a lot through this project.

i had dinner with one of my very best friends tonight. we live similar but somehow also completely different lives. we talked about life and love and babies and crazy street preachers and a bunch other things…
it reminded me again that we all live different lives but at the end of the day we are all essentially the same, all trying to find our place in this world.
that’s exactly what ‘other side’ is about. we are all walking different roads but maybe all trying to head in the same direction and maybe all of these roads are also inevitably intertwined along the way.
this song is for the ones who have built their life up from nothing to be where they are today.
this song is for the ones who found a lifelong partner and are raising beautiful children together.
this song is for the ones who have taken a chance and found success by following the path ahead.
this song is for the ones who are still finding their way and discovering who they are and what they want.
somehow, no matter who we are or where we are from, we are all tangled up in this mysterious life.
‘other side’ is the first track we have released from SOLITUDE, the year-long project i embarked on throughout 2024. this song (and the whole album) is lovingly recorded, engineered, produced and mixed by another of my very best friends @timhartsmusic (he also plays most of the instruments you hear and maybe he should have done the lead vocals too……) and we hope you love it as much as we loved creating it for you.
