🌱 Soil Preparation for Tomato Planting

1. Select the Planting Area
• Choose a location with 6–8 hours of sunlight daily
• Well-drained soil (not waterlogged)
• Avoid areas where tomatoes, eggplants, peppers, or potatoes were grown in the last 2 years

2. Loosen and Till the Soil
• Dig soil to a depth of 20–30 cm
• Remove weeds, roots, and stones
• Break large soil clumps for better aeration

3. Improve Soil Fertility
• Add compost or well-rotted manure: 2–3 kg per m²
• If soil is acidic (pH < 5.5), apply lime/dolomite to adjust pH to 6.0–6.8
• Add rock phosphate or natural minerals for stronger roots

4. Solarize and Rest the Soil
• Cover with clear plastic sheet or mulch
• Leave for 7–14 days to reduce pests and diseases (soil sterilization)

5. Make Planting Beds
• Raised bed: 20–30 cm high for good drainage
• Bed width: 1–1.2 m, with 30–50 cm paths between rows

6. Apply Base Fertilizer
• Before transplanting seedlings, mix a small amount of NPK 15-15-15 or 16-16-16 (30–50 g per plant) into the soil at planting holes
