Last Saturday, we celebrated the extraordinary life of our dear friend Mitchell Kahan, who as my husband Nate said is one of those rare people who left the world in better shape than he found it. As if Mitch’s friendship and generosity to so many weren’t enough, his memorial took place in the transcendent new wing he made possible during his 26 years as director of the Akron Art Museum. Like the Greek aphorism outside the home he shared with his beloved husband Chris Hixon says, “Life is short, but art is long.”
