Here’s how to conduct your own Habit Reset:
The "Habit Audit": Grab a pen and paper or open a note-taking app. List your current key routines—both productive and unproductive. Ask yourself:
Which habits are still delivering value?
Which habits feel like a drain on my time or energy?
Which habits were built for an older version of me (e.g., pre-pandemic, before a new job)?
The "Uninstall": Be ruthless. Consciously decide to let go of the habits that are no longer serving your future self. This is where you free up the cognitive space for new growth.
The "Install": Based on your current goals, intentionally build new habits. Instead of "write for an hour," maybe it's "outline one section of the project after my morning coffee." Focus on small, sustainable micro-actions.
The "Upgrade": Take the valuable habits you kept and see how you can make them even better. Can you optimize your morning walk with a new podcast? Can you add a 5-minute meditation to your reading routine?
Your routines should be a living, breathing part of your growth, not a rigid prison. By embracing the habit reset, you can continuously align your daily actions with your biggest ambitions.
