Income Tax Department on Wednesday surveyed six premises in Mumbai and Lucknow connected to actor Sonu Sood, according to reports. The survey was reportedly carried out for 20 hours and Sood's family members and staff were also present in the premises when the survey was conducted. The department is reportedly investigating his property deal with a Lucknow-based real estate company.

Guwahati: Three Inland Water Transport department officials have been suspended in connection with the boat capsize in the river Brahmaputra at Nimatighat in upper Assam’s Jorhat district on Wednesday.
Sources said Assam Transport Minister Chandra Mohan Patowary has ordered the suspension of three IWTD officials following the tragic boat mishap.
The suspended officers are Executive Engineer Vikramaditya Choudhury, Assistant Executive Engineer (in charge) Mukut Gogoi and Junior Engineer Ratul Tamuly.
Personnel of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and SDRF started search operations to rescue the missing boat passengers.

The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) recovered approximately $90,000 USD from a domestic air passenger travelling to Imphal. On September 1, around 9:30 a.m., the incident occurred. In Indian currency, this would be around 65,70,000 rupees. The passenger was also charged an additional Rs. 3950 INR.

Arbajuddin, a 25-year-old passenger who was travelling from Imphal to Delhi via Guwahati, has been identified. He was flying on United Airlines flight 15783. During the screening of his two handbags, he was caught smuggling US currency. The on-duty screener, ASI Exe SK Singh, identified one of the bags as suspicious and requested a physical examination.

On-duty baggage checking officer SI Dalip Kumar checked the bag again. Prima facie, no objectionable item was discovered. However, after a thorough inspection, a false bottom was discovered in the bag.

The Assam Cabinet, led by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, removed Rajiv Gandhi’s (former Prime Minister) name from the Orang National Park on Wednesday.
While sharing the Assam Cabinet’s decisions, chief minister Sarmna tweeted, “Rajiv Gandhi Orang National Park to be renamed Orang National Park, taking cognizance of the demands of Adivasi and tea tribe communities.”
The Cabinet also decided to appoint sportspersons Jamuna Boro, a boxing champion, and Sanjay Boro, an archery champion, as Excise Inspectors.
