What are your thoughts on M. Night Shyamalan’s 2002 alien invasion horror movie “signs”

Personally after seeing this movie especially that I had already saw his iconic sixth sense from a day prior, I do find this movie to be my personal favorite of the director’s filmography along with Mel Gibson’s filmmography

The main reason why I do appreciate this movie is due to its themes of faith especially for incorporating a moral message on trying to believe in god in order to survive just like Graham dealt with because he went from mistrusting his faith in the lord because of his wife’s death to then later praising god once more as soon as his son recovered from the alien’s poison

The other aspect that i do appreciate about the movie is the fact that the movie never revealed what the aliens looked like up until the middle half of the movie, which it perfectly added the atmosphere and suspense and for incorporating a horror like vibe to it when the movie reveals the aliens in a form of a jumpscare like the moment at the birthday party in Brazil, where the alien walks by the camera or during the climax where even if the wasn’t shown till the final battle at the end, it’s still effective since it gives a nightmarish feel to the climax by basically incorporating a lot of suspense and silence in order to make the viewer perfectly engaged with the film and it’s why this film worked so well

Overall, this is problaby my personal favorite of the director’s filmmography for incorporating some relevant themes of faith and do appreciate for not revealing to much on the alien creature to incorporate the nightmarish feel to the film

Which of these live action movies that were distributed by Disney do you prefer the most?

(I’m not talking about the infamous live action Disney remakes for those who are about freak out, this pol is more about original live action movies that aren’t based on animated movies)

What are your thoughts on M night shyamalan’s 1999 supernatural horror film “the sixth sense”

For me, I do find it a very incredible supernatural horror film and probably one of Bruce Willis’s best roles

The main reason why I do appreciate this film is due to its story structure for starting as a supernatural horror film to a mystery thriller where the ghosts who tormented Cole are revealed to be just there to plead the living to know about their deaths in order to go to heaven

I do appreciate the dynamic between Malcolm and Cole especially that both of their arcs completely saved themselves like how Malcolm told Cole to listen to the ghosts in order to understand their motives and how Cole told Malcom to get to his wife in order to communicate with her about the reveal that he was dead since Malcolm didint know that he was dead up until he remembered that he was brutally killed rather than being recovered and man, the ending in general is easily considered by far the most shocking plot twist endings in movie history especially of how it covers really well on how the events from the beginning affected the ending especially for Malcolm’s fate

Especially do appreciate that the movie shifts from being a disturbing horror movie to a mystery thriller when it’s revealed that these ghosts only wanted to plead with the living in order to make them understand about their fates in order to go to heaven especially do appreciate the moment when Cole went to the deceased girl’s home and she handed him the tape in order to reveal the actual truth of how she died especially that this sequence shocked me as the ending since it caught me by surprise by the reveal of the spirit’s motives especially for revealing on who was the killer behind the little girl’s death

I do appreciate the movie’s the first act especially for perfectly constructing the tension and atmosphere like how Cole told Malcolm about his visions of ghosts that kept on tormenting him or when Cole acted very strangely during the moments when he’s at home or when he’s at school and all of the build up definitely leaded towards the moments where the shock value do start to shine and boy the movie did achieve them very well especially for the moments when Cole is getting tormented by the spirits like the lady with scars, the boy with a wound on the back of his head and finally the poisoned girl, because these moments are genuine disturbing and terrifying especially that the movie’s cinematography gives the sense of nightmare fuel to these sequences

Overall, definitely one of the most chilling supernatural horror movies and by far one of Bruce Willis’s best films because everything from the perfectly structured story, memorable and likable characters and alot of well executed shock value moments that do petrified you to death makes this horror movie a genuine underrated masterpiece
