Wouldn't it be really funny if went radio silent for a whole month then just dropped a video on a random Saturday... Anyway, here's the thumbnail for my newest video dropping tomorrow😶😶
Bad News (sorta, kinda): It's about a Japanese Subculture, that after having spent time editing this video, doesn't have a lot of easy to find footage of. Outside of specific Anime and Japanese TV shows, most of the publicly available footage I found came from obscure Released-In-Japan-Only 70s movies that never got upscaled to a higher quality. So I hope you guys don't mind the video looking a bit jank this time around🙏🙏
I really did try to find high quality footage but there really wasn't any. At least, none on the platforms I used to source footage. Which is surprising since this subculture is a very common character trope in a lot of anime and Japanese media.
here's my 3x3 of my own personal favorite "anime" that I wanted to use as a gag in a video but ended up cutting. Might as well share it here. Judge me how you will😶😶
also yes I know Arcane isn't an "anime". But its my 3x3 and I get to cheat on it a bit.
Top row: A place further than the universe, Psycho Pass, Infinite Stratos Middle Row: A Silent Voice, Dungeon Meshi, Girls Und Panzer Bottom Row: Arcane, Love, Chunibyo & Other Delusions!
, Rage of Bahamut
Hey guys, update about the video unfortunately the video had some audio problems that made me take it down in order for me to fix it . and on top of that, there was a copyright claim on one of the music tracks that I used when previously it was fine. (thanks for that Youtube)
So because of that, the video will go up tomorrow Monday my time. Since honestly I'm just tired at this point of the video running into so many road blocks just trying to get it up. I've tried to re upload it 3 separate times with each one having its own set of issues
so I'm just gonna come back tomorrow when I'm in a more healthier state of mind to upload the video since I'm kinda pissed off right now and I'm just straight up crashing out.
sorry for the delay and I hope you guys can understand🙏🙏
I have to say though, If I had a dollar after finding out that Japan's economic crash in the 80's contributed to the rise and fall of certain Japanese Subcultures. I'd only have 3 dollars. But its amazing I have 3 dollars to begin with.
So I'm in the middle of editing the next video but I'm curious about something regarding you guys.
Since video essays aren't really anything new, I'm curious what style of video essays do you guys prefer to watch. I know that the main appeal of Video essays are the weird and niche topics that you guys find interesting but I'm curious of how much comedy/"bits" do you guys prefer in a video essay.
For example, since I grew up watching anitubers like Gigguk and Scamboli Reviews I've always been under the impression that you got to have a solid amount of comedy to keep people engaged. (and my early content definitely reflected this. in a cringe way that is lol)
But as the channel grows and I look to other non-anituber video essayists for inspiration, there are bigger creators than me who do video essays but don't really focus on being "funny" in their videos. In my last video as well, I didn't really have that much jokes since I didn't feel comfortable putting a lot of comedy in a video that mentions self harm.
so what do you guys think? I'm really curious what you guys prefer
also, "less comedy" here doesn't mean that I'm super serious throughout the video, rather, its just that the amount of comedic bits have been toned down. so instead of me trying to make a joke every 5 seconds, its instead me making a bit once in a chapter for example.

With that said, here's some teaser frames.

Release me from this hell of learning about the Japanese Economy in the 80's for video essays.
Wouldn't it be really funny though if I had to talk about it again in the next video😶😶
