VFX Supervisor Alessandro Ongaro recently shared new details about the creatures in Zach Cregger’s Resident Evil movie at the View Conference.

During his presentation, he showed new concept art and explained how the monsters were made, including the "camper girl," the "sewer creature," the "baby monster," and the final "boss" creature.

The movie's visual effects were created using both practical and digital methods. Legacy effects made the physical models used for reference and in several final scenes. Meanwhile, Weta FX and Eyeline studios created the CGI, especially for the final scene and the "pedestrian" creature.

RESIDENT EVIL REMAKES Trilogy on Nintendo Switch 2.

After trying the Resident Evil Remake Trilogy (RE2, RE3, and RE4 Remake) on the Nintendo Switch 2, here are my thoughts on their performance. Unlike the old cloud versions, these games now run natively on the Switch 2.

In Docked Mode, the optimization is quite good, especially for RE2 and RE3. The graphics are lower quality than the PS5 version, but the frame rate stays stable at 60 FPS. It only drops slightly during some gameplay moments and transitions to cutscenes. Overall, Docked Mode gives sharper textures, and better lighting.

For RE4 Remake, the game is mostly stable, but there are noticeable FPS drops and stutters during heavy scenes, like the Village fight with many Ganados around Leon. Visually, RE4 Remake is also blurrier and runs at a lower resolution than RE2 and RE3 Remake.

When playing in Handheld Mode, my experience felt very similar to the demo I tried at Tokyo Game Show (TGS). The graphics are lower, but the FPS still feels good like in docked mode thanks to VRR. However, on the smaller Switch 2 screen, the lower graphics do not look bad, and I found all three games to remain enjoyable and playable on the go.

Playing with the Switch 2 Joy-Cons is already comfortable for me, but the Pro Controller is still the best choice for better aiming and long gaming sessions.

Overall, these remake ports are great if you want to play these games in handheld mode anywhere you want.

RESIDENT EVIL 2, 3, and 4 Remake will officially be released digitally on the Nintendo Switch 2 tomorrow!

Before the official launch, I had the opportunity to try all three games at the Tokyo Game Show 2026. I played all three titles completely in handheld mode.

During the demo, I played Resident Evil 2 from the beginning until I got the Spade Key. In Resident Evil 3, I played from the start until Jill meets Brad, and the part after she meets Mikhail up to the Toy Uncle area. For Resident Evil 4, I played up to the village fight.

Overall, the gameplay performance is very smooth and stable across all three games. I experienced some frame drops during the village fight in Resident Evil 4, but they were minor and the performance was still good. Even though the graphics are reduced to fit the Nintendo Switch 2 hardware, the visual quality still looks very impressive on the handheld screen. Please note that my experience was based on a development build, so the final release version may have slight changes.

Chandler Riggs' RESIDENT EVIL 7 Fan Film Is Officially Released on ‪@chandlerriggs5‬ YouTube channel.

Resident Evil 7: Biohazard fan film created by The Walking Dead actor Chandler Riggs, best known for his role as Carl, has officially been released. The 19-minute live-action short film premiered on October 14 and is now available to watch online.

In this film, Riggs plays the main character, Ethan Winters. Alongside Riggs, the cast includes Jason Douglas as Jack Baker, Mary Rachel Quinn, Eugenie Bonderant, Johnathan O'Niel, and Sam Coyles.

The production team spent days transforming Arturo Fuente’s original cigar factory in Tampa Bay into a full scale, practical section of the Baker estate. To recreate the physical horror of the game, the team relied on practical sets, stunt work, and minimal VFX, with special effects legend Greg Nicotero also supporting the film by providing SFX equipment. Furthermore, the creators confirmed that no AI was used in the making of this film.

A major detail in this adaptation is the change in camera perspective. While the original Resident Evil 7 video game uses a first-person view that keeps Ethan's face hidden, this short film uses a third-person perspective. Riggs explained that showing Ethan's face was necessary to make the live-action story work better for a wider audience, giving fans a rare chance to see the character's expressions on screen.

Riggs created this project purely out of his passion and love for the survival horror series. Following the recent success of director Zach Cregger's official Resident Evil movie, Riggs also stated that he hopes to collaborate with Cregger on an official Resident Evil movie sequel in the future.

Chandler Riggs BIOHAZARD Short Fan-Film - Behind The Scenes

‪@IGN‬ has just published a trailer and behind-the-scenes photos for a Resident Evil 7: Biohazard fan film created by The Walking Dead actor, Chandler Riggs (best known for his role as Carl).

In this film, Riggs also stars as the main character, Ethan Winters. As a fan of the survival horror franchise, he made this project purely out of passion for the games. The film will use a third-person perspective, allowing fans to finally see Ethan's face on screen.

This fan film has a 20-minute runtime and will be released on the 14th of this month.
