The One Eyed Neighbor

Welcome, Neighbor!

I'm Rock, but most folks call me Pappy. Pull up a chair, pour yourself a cup of coffee, and stay awhile.

Here you'll find stories from everyday life, home projects, lawn care, lessons learned, a few laughs, and honest conversations about the things that really matter. Whether I'm rebuilding a deck, mowing a lawn, fixing something around the house, or simply sharing a lesson life taught me this week, my hope is that every visit leaves you smiling, encouraged, or thinking a little differently.

This isn't just another YouTube channel...

It's a place where neighbors become friends.

Always remember to be kind... if only because you can be, and we ALL can be, Always!

Welcome to The One Eyed Neighbor. 🧔

šŸ”§ NEW HOW-TO VIDEO! šŸ”§

Is your push mower ready for a little attention?

This week, I’m sharing how I perform general maintenance on a push lawn mower to help keep it running smoothly and reliably. It’s a straightforward project you can do right in your own garage—and I even managed to keep track of most of my tools!

If you find it helpful, please give it a thumbs-up, leave a comment, and share it with a neighbor who maintains their own lawn equipment.

Thanks for supporting The One Eyed Neighbor!

Well... hey there, neighbor. I'm really glad you stopped by.

This channel is a place for stories, a few laughs, home projects, life lessons, and the simple things that remind us what's important. Whether this is your first visit or you've been with me for years, you're always welcome here.

ā˜• I'd love to get to know you.

Tell me three things:

Where are you watching from?
What's one project you're working on around your home or yard?
What's one lesson life has taught you that you'll never forget?

I'll be reading the comments because around here... neighbors still visit over a cup of coffee.

Until next time...

šŸ’ What if YouTube creators had a stronger voice?

Today I published an episode that's a little different.

It's not about fixing a lawn mower, building a deck, or sharing a funny story from the workshop. Instead, it's an idea I've been thinking about for quite some time...

What if YouTube had a creator representative—a "President of YouTube"—chosen to speak on behalf of creators?

Would it help?
Would it change anything?
Or is there a better solution?

Whether you're a creator or simply someone who enjoys YouTube, I'd genuinely love to hear your thoughts.

This isn't about politics.

It's about community, communication, and making YouTube even better for everyone.

šŸŽ„ I hope you'll watch the episode and then come back and join the conversation.

šŸ‘‡ What would be the FIRST thing you'd want a creator representative to work on?

Well folks, I finally tackled a project I've been avoiding for far too long...

Cleaning out the garage.

Now, I figured I'd find a few missing tools, some old paint cans, and probably three or four things I forgot I even owned. What I didn't expect was finding a few memories, a couple lessons, and a reminder that sometimes the hardest things to let go of aren't taking up space on a shelf.

Join me for a little humor, a little wisdom, and a garage cleanout that turned into something much bigger.

Have you ever found something while cleaning that brought back a flood of memories?

I'd love to hear your story in the comments.

ā€œWell folks… this week on The One Eyed Podcast we tackled one of the most stubborn things God ever put in a backyard…

ROOTS. šŸ˜‚

What started as a simple project somehow turned into:
āœ” sweat
āœ” questionable decision making
āœ” Earl supervision
āœ” and enough digging to qualify as an archaeological expedition.

But somewhere in all the chaos…
this episode became about something bigger:
the things buried underneath us…
and the patience it takes to finally pull them free.

Hope this one gives y’all a laugh and maybe reminds ya not every battle in life is won quickly. šŸ‡ŗšŸ‡øā€

ā€œWell folks… this week on The One Eyed Podcast I made what may have been a questionable decision…

I taught Susie how to drive the zero turn mower. šŸ‡ŗšŸ‡øšŸ˜‚

What started as a simple Memorial Day mowing lesson somehow turned into:
āœ” Earl questioning my judgment
āœ” Jerry trying to avoid yard work
āœ” one terrified squirrel
āœ” and me realizing my wife might actually mow straighter lines than I do.

But underneath all the laughs… this episode’s really about appreciating the ordinary little moments that become the memories we carry forever.

Hope y’all enjoy this one, my friends. šŸ‡ŗšŸ‡øā€

The One Eyed Neighbor

Introducing a New Chapter: Second Season šŸŒ…
Friends,
Over the past months on The One Eyed Podcast, I’ve shared stories about tools, neighbors, marriage, porch wisdom, and the kind of life lessons you only learn after you’ve bumped into a few walls.
But something kept tugging at me.
Conversations with neighbors like Earl.
Messages from folks who’ve recently retired.
Quiet moments where a man or woman says,
ā€œI didn’t think retirement would feel like this.ā€
That’s why I’ve started something new.
šŸŽ™ļø Second Season
This show is for my senior brothers and sisters —
those who worked hard, showed up, raised families, served their communities, and are now standing in a chapter that feels unfamiliar.
Retirement isn’t the end of usefulness.
It isn’t the fading of purpose.
It isn’t being put on a shelf.
It’s a second season.
And second seasons can be just as meaningful, just as productive, just as joy-filled — sometimes even more so.
On Second Season, you’ll find:
• Honest conversations about the emotional side of retirement
• Encouragement when identity feels shaken
• Real talk about purpose, loneliness, marriage adjustments, and rediscovery
• Stories of men and women learning to slow down without giving up
• A place to feel heard — not dismissed
My heart in this is simple:
I want every retiree who stumbles across this channel to know:
You are not invisible.
You are not finished.
You are not behind.
You are stepping into a season that still has growth, impact, and meaning waiting for you.
If you’re newly retired…
If you’ve been retired for years and still feel unsettled…
If you’re wondering ā€œIs this it?ā€
Pull up a chair.
We’re going to walk this together.
With respect.
With honesty.
With hope.
