Hey FP Fam,
So many of you have messaged saying you missed the Black Friday deal – I hear you!
I'm extending 10% off shop-wide on my Etsy store until December 16th.
Just a heads up though: after the 16th, I can't guarantee delivery before Christmas with shipping times and all that. So if you've been thinking about grabbing something, now's the time!
I hope these cards and posters help you explore whisky more and help share what you discover over a few drams with friends and family over the holidays.

Cheers!

The Whisky Flavour Map is here! 🗺️
After seeing how much you loved last year's Flavour Tree, I finally made the thing I've been wanting to do for ages: a proper Flavour Map (spectrum chart).
The idea:
Traditional Scotch region maps don't really help when you're looking for flavour (we all know Speyside isn't all fruity and Islay isn't all peaty). So I've placed around 100 of my Top Whiskies for Enthusiasts on a hand-drawn, Tolkien/1600s explorer-style map based on how they actually taste.
And I mean hand-drawn. No AI. In a world where everything's generated in seconds, I got an actual map illustrator to draw this by hand. It took months and months, but I'm glad it's finally out in time for the holidays.
How it works:
- North = Peat & Smoke
- South = Unpeated
- West = Fruit & Floral (typically ex-bourbon cask)
- East = Rich & Spiced (typically sherry cask)
The corners are where it gets interesting:
- Northwest is your Peat Monsters (Laphroaig 10, Lagavulin 8).
- Northeast is where peat meets sherry for maximum intensity (Ardbeg Uigeadail, Kilchoman Loch Gorm).
- Southeast is Sherry Bomb territory (Tamdhu CS, Aberlour A'bunadh).
- Southwest is delicate Spirit Forward stuff (Glencadam 10 or Glenmorangie 12).
Everything in between is a spectrum; lightly peated, balanced, etc. If you want to find something similar to what you already love, or explore somewhere completely new, the map shows you where to look.
This time round: I'm doing Dark and Light editions from the start too.
Black Friday thing:
The Flavour Map has 15% off right now (honestly the biggest discount I do all year): firstphil.etsy.com/?coupon=WHISKYMAP
Everything else is 10% off too; Flavour Tree, tasting cards, all of it.
Runs till the end of Black Friday. If anyone's been asking what you want for Christmas or you're stuck for ideas for the whisky person in your life, might be worth a look.
Ships direct from 33 Countries - USA, UK, Aussie, EU, Canada, NZ, etc. Will be to ya before Christmas easily if you order now.
Would genuinely love to hear what you think! 🥃

YOU ASKED FOR THIS. LITERALLY.
For the past year, so many of you have messaged me saying "I love the Flavour Tree poster, but I need something I can actually take to tastings."
Fair point. A poster doesn't fit in your bag.
So I've turned the Flavour Tree into A5 sized tasting cards. Pack of 10. Same flowchart design that actually makes sense when you're trying to figure out what's in your glass. Front has the tree, back has the tasting guide.
Why 10? Because whisky's better shared. Hand them to your tasting group. Keep one in your whisky bag. Give them to mates who are just getting into it.
This exists because you kept asking. Simple as that.
Hope they are helpful!

This week I’m stepping in to host Roy’s @Aqvavitae V-Pub.
After my mum’s passing a few weeks ago I’ve been thinking about whisky differently. Not just the flavours, but what makes a dram truly meaningful.
So on Friday we’ll be exploring The 5 Most Meaningful Drams. I’ll share my list, but I really want to hear yours too. What whiskies carry the biggest memories for you?
Join me live at the regular V-Pub time, with plenty of the barflies in chat. It should be a special one 🥃
👉 Drop your “meaningful dram” in the comments below and I might share it during the stream.
