🚨 Cameron Highlands Immigration Raid: 468 Foreign Workers Detained

The Rohingya Reality TV 20 Nov, 2025

The Malaysian Immigration Department conducted OPS Gempur, arresting 468 foreign nationals for various immigration offences during coordinated raids in business areas, vegetable farms, and construction sites.

The operation, involving 547 officers from 11am to 2pm, revealed many workers busy with their jobs packing vegetables and performing other tasks unaware of the authorities’ presence.

Breakdown of detainees:

Myanmar: 175

Bangladesh: 174

Indonesia: 67

Nepal: 20

Pakistan: 16

India: 11

Philippines, Thailand, Sri Lanka, China, Cambodia: 1 each

Among them were 388 men, 76 women, and 4 children, aged 20 to 54. Most had expired permits, lacked travel documents, or held suspected fake temporary work passes.

Immigration Director-General Datuk Zakaria Shaaban said the area has become a hotspot for foreign workers over the years, partly due to hilly terrain, distance from towns, and local businesses preferring foreign labor.

All detainees will be sent to immigration detention depots in Kelantan, Perak, and Selangor. From January to 18 Nov 2025, 83,994 foreign nationals have been arrested nationwide for immigration offences.

AA mengenakan cukai tanah 3,000 kyat setiap bulan ke atas keluarga Rohingya di Maungdaw

Kumpulan bersenjata Rakhine, Arakan Army (AA), didakwa mengenakan cukai tanah bulanan sebanyak 3,000 kyat ke atas setiap keluarga Rohingya di daerah Maungdaw, menurut penduduk tempatan.

Penduduk berkata, walaupun ramai tidak mendapat makanan mencukupi setiap hari akibat kekurangan pekerjaan dan bantuan kemanusiaan, AA tetap mengutip cukai tersebut.

Seorang penduduk Buthidaung memberitahu Media:
“AA kutip 3,000 kyat sebulan sebagai ‘cukai tanah’. Keluarga Rohingya yang miskin terpaksa membayar walaupun mereka tidak mampu menyara anak-anak mereka kerana takut tindakan undang-undang jika lewat membayar.”

Seorang lagi penduduk Maungdaw menambah bahawa Jabatan Hasil AA/ULA telah mengeluarkan arahan bahawa sesiapa yang gagal membayar akan dikenakan tindakan.

Dengan pengangguran, sekatan perjalanan, dan kekurangan makanan yang semakin teruk, kutipan cukai AA/ULA menjadi beban besar kepada Rohingya, kata sumber.

Semasa pentadbiran majlis tentera sebelum ini, tiada cukai tanah atau cukai peribadi dikenakan. Penduduk menyifatkan tindakan AA/ULA sebagai eksploitasi terhadap rakyat yang sudah pun menderita.

Di samping itu, penduduk mendakwa mereka turut dipaksa menjalankan kerja sukarela dan bertugas sebagai pengawal dari jam 9 malam hingga 5 pagi, meskipun keadaan keselamatan tidak terjamin.

“Kami seperti kanak-kanak yang membesar di tengah perang. Kami tidak tahu siapa yang boleh membantu kami,” kata seorang penduduk Maungdaw kepada Media.
