Valley of Chrome formed on December 23, 2000, in Los Baños, Laguna, initially under the name Batch 98. The band adopted their current name from a Cypress Hill song title, though some say the acronym V.O.C. was chosen for its similarity to Vision of Disorder (VoD). Their sound blends metal with hardcore and punk elements, incorporating melodic hard rock and pop influences through their riffs and vocal arrangements. The band has released six EPs and six full-length albums, with musical influences ranging from In Flames, Atreyu, and Killswitch Engage to classic acts like Metallica, Iron Maiden, and Guns N' Roses.
The band's early years saw three EP releases: Transparent, Beyond Definition, and Anthems for the Sell-Out Youth (the latter recorded at Tower of Doom) before eventually signing with Viva Records in 2004. Their debut, Love and Devotion, led to tours with Chicosci and Typecast. By 2007, they returned to Tower of Doom and participated in the TOD Siege Tours of 2007 and 2008, releasing Never the Lifeless in 2008. Their track "Forever Young" became an unofficial anthem for the Siege Tour acts. After their longest recording gap, the band returned in 2012 with a self-titled album written entirely in Filipino—the result of a challenge from producer Eric Perlas to frontman Rogel. This album went on to become one of their most popular releases and expanded their local audience significantly.
Their 2019 album Victorious features artwork by Brazilian artist Marcelo Vasco, known for his work with Slayer, Kreator, and Testament. The 2022 dual-language album "Confront Thy Curse" yielded "Mahirap Mahalin," which won Best Rock/Alternative Recording at the Awit Awards—a notable crossover achievement for the Philippine metal genre. Their most recent release is the 2024 EP For Tomorrow Is Never Promised, featuring tracks "Luha ng Kaaway," "Walang Takot," and "Boses."
Valley of Chrome has opened for international acts including Shadows Fall and Trivium in Manila, and performed at major festivals like PULP Summer Slam (with At The Gates) and Indonesia's Hammersonic Festival (with In Flames). In August 2019, they became the first ever all-Filipino band to perform at Germany's Wacken Open Air festival, following their 2019 Crows and Vikings Tour across the Philippines, Thailand, USA, Singapore, and Australia with Typecast. From humble beginnings in Los Baños to performing alongside metal's biggest names at the world's premier festivals, VOC has demonstrated that Philippine metal belongs on the international stage.

1. Nobita was formed in Valenzuela in May 2018 when Mark Quintero, Sam Aquino, and Jonathan Agbanlog left their previous band Kultura due to creative differences. They recruited Jaeson Felismino as vocalist after Mark recalled his performance at a fundraising event for cancer patients. The band name comes from a Katakana word meaning "to grow up strong and clear," and they also admit they just found it on Google—but they truly lived up to its meaning through their journey together! 🌱
2. "Ikaw Lang" broke records as the most streamed Filipino song on Spotify Philippines in 2022—an incredible achievement considering it was released two years earlier in 2020! The song became a sleeper hit through TikTok trends and gained even more momentum after Nobita released the official music video in October 2021. It charted for over 60 weeks on Billboard Philippines Songs, making it one of the longest charting songs on the platform and the first song ever to chart for at least a year. The official music video has been watched over 33 million times as of December 2025 and their lyric video alone has racked up 116 million views on YouTube! The song has currently surpassed 414 million streams on Spotify, and has earned them over 3 million monthly listeners, proving its lasting impact on Filipino listeners, and has even received a Diamond Record Award! 💎
3. DID YOU KNOW: Korean actor Park Bo-gum (starred in "Good Boy", "Reply 1988," and "When Life Gives You Tangerines," among others) learned and performed Nobita's song during his recent Fan Meeting Tour 2025 at the Mall Of Asia Arena! He actually fumbled singing the Tagalog lyrics a bit, but the audience was more than willing to help him out and sing along. This unexpected recognition shows how Nobita's music and melodies transcend language barriers, proving that OPM has the power to capture hearts worldwide. 🌏

Hale formed in Manila in 2004 with members from different universities: Roll Martinez and Sheldon Gellada from University of Santo Tomas, Champ Lui Pio from De La Salle University, and Omnie Saroca from Technological University of the Philippines. The band signed with EMI Philippines (now PolyEast Records) that same year.
Their self-titled debut album dropped in 2005 and achieved significant commercial success. The single "The Day You Said Goodnight" brought them mainstream recognition across Southeast Asia and earned multiple nominations as OPM Song of the Year. The album sold 90,000 copies and won them the Awit Award for Group of the Year. They reissued the album in March 2006 with the additional track "Tollgate."
The band released their second album Twilight in September 2006, which went gold within a week. During this period, they established Treehouse Productions, a charitable initiative using music to help children with mental and physical illnesses. They then took a self-imposed 10-month hiatus to reduce the pressure from their early success.
Their third album Above, Over and Beyond arrived in April 2008. Original drummer Omnie Saroca departed that year and was replaced by Paolo Santiago from Join the Club. The band released their fourth album Kundiman in July 2009, featuring all-Tagalog songs.
In 2010, the band parted ways and lead singer Champ Lui Pio explored solo work and acting opportunities. After a five-year break, Hale reunited in January 2015 and released the EP Time and Space. In 2016, they collaborated with Sarah Geronimo on "The Great Unknown," which topped both MYX and MTV Philippines charts. Violinist Chino David, formerly of Silent Sanctuary, joined as the fifth member in 2017. They released their fifth album Alon in 2018, with the title track winning Best Theme Song at the Metro Manila Film Festival. In February 2024, they returned to EMI, now under UMG Philippines.
1. Talata was born in 2007 in Manila, Philippines—an all-Filipino band creating music from different thoughts and topics of life, including yours!
2. The band's name, Talata, means "paragraph" in Filipino, symbolizing their music as distinct divisions of thoughts and stories. Just as a paragraph deals with a single thought or topic, each Talata song explores one complete idea—a musical approach to storytelling that mirrors the written word. 📝
3. "Anghel" explores themes of betrayal and disillusionment—telling the story of someone deceived by a partner who initially made a kind and charming impression. But beneath that seemingly angelic facade lurked an egotistical person who turned into a tormentor, unleashing a nightmare of abuse on someone they once cherished. 🔥
4. Talata's current lineup features a new member, Tim Gonzales, adding synth pads and keys, evolving their hard rock alternative sound towards a new chapter! DID YOU KNOW: Tim is also the keyboard and synth player for post hardcore / metalcore band, April Morning Skies? Now you know! 🎹

Snakefight formed in 2017 when five experienced musicians from the Filipino rock scene decided to start fresh together. The lineup consists of Christian Tomacruz (vocals), Ron Dela Cruz (guitars and vocals), Luigi Tuazon (guitars), Dowell Delos Reyes (bass), and Daryl Alvarez (drums)—all veterans of local bands including Jejaview, Faintlight, Days of January, and Diachroma.
Despite being close friends beforehand, they established Snakefight as its own entity rather than simply another side project. Their sound blends pop-punk with emo and hardcore influences, drawing comparisons to bands like New Found Glory and A Day to Remember.
The band hit the ground running in 2018, releasing both the five-track Never Looking Back EP and their full-length album Pieces & Difference the same year. They also produced music videos, including one for "We Are The Broken," and began building their reputation through live performances. Their work earned them a Myx Music Award nomination for "Bandarito Performance of the Year."
In 2021, vocalist Christian Tomacruz faced and overcame a significant health challenge when he successfully recovered from a brain tumor. The band has continued moving forward, releasing an acoustic album and currently working on new material expected to drop under OC Records. Their combined experience from previous projects has helped them carve out a distinct presence in the contemporary Filipino pop-punk scene.
