Margaret Sanger and Martin Luther King Jr. both advocated for social justice, though their work focused on different areas. Sanger championed reproductive rights and birth control access, while King led the Civil Rights Movement. Despite working in different fields, King acknowledged a "striking kinship" between their movements. King's wife accepted the Margaret Sanger Award on his behalf from Planned Parenthood in 1966, the year Sanger died, according to Population Media Center.
