That Home Loan Dude

Last night, I posed on the red carpet at the TikTok Awards 2025… but I swear I looked like an awkward Asian dad trying to figure out what to do at his kid’s school photo day (look at my classic put my hands behind my back pose!) 🤦‍♂️😂
.
Standing in line, the creators in front of me looked like they had rehearsed poses for hours — strong angles, slow turns, 5-minute photo sessions… Meanwhile, I walked up, hands behind my back like a polite millennial uncle, smiled, click, and shuffled off before anyone could tell me to stay longer 😅
.
But here’s the wild part:
.
I was invited.
As a Finance Content Creator.
To one of the biggest creator events in the country.
.
And to top it off — the International Convention Centre has literally been renamed the TikTok Entertainment Centre. That’s real. That’s history. That was just yesterday!
.
I’ll be honest… I felt old in a room of ultra-cool 20-year-olds with perfect fits, perfect hair, and millions of followers. I’m 41. I don’t lip sync. I don’t twerk. I don’t dance.
.
I talk about… mortgages 😅 (and occasionally talk about how to build generational wealth in your family - but that' BORINNGGG content right??😅)
.
I went alone and expected to quietly observe from the background — a small potato among giants.
But then something happened…
.
Tech creators with 400k followers came up to say hi.
Food creators with over a million recognised me.
Comedy creators told me they learned from my videos.
.
And these aren’t finance people.
These are creators whose audiences dwarf mine.
.
That moment hit me hard:
.
Sometimes you think you’re small.
But people are watching.
People are learning.
People care.
.
I’m in one of the most niche corners on TikTok — property finance, mostly for Aussies.
It’s not viral dance content.
It’s not global entertainment.
.
But somehow… my goofy long ass winded videos are making impact anyway.
Even expats around the world are tuning in.
.
This invite reminded me of something I say to my clients all the time:
.
🔥 If you want to break the generational poverty curse… you can’t keep playing small.
🔥 Your voice matters even when you think no one sees you.
.
So I’m grateful.
I’m humbled.
I’m motivated to create even better content in 2026.
.

You keep me going more than you know 🙏

Here’s to playing bigger.
Here’s to making a real difference.
Here’s to the families we’re building wealth for — one smart move at a time.

And here’s the part I’ll always stand by:

Ending generational poverty shouldn’t require
✘ buying a $10k course
✘ giving away your personal data
✘ clicking through funnels
✘ watching 12 ads before learning one useful thing.
(And the irony is — you’ll probably get hit with one right after reading this 😂)
.
💥 Knowledge is power — but ONLY when people can actually access it.
And too many “property coaches” put that knowledge behind:
➡ paywalls
➡ lead magnets
➡ endless email spam traps
.
Not me.
Not for first-gen families.
Not for the community I came from.
.
I’ll keep showing up.
I’ll keep teaching for free.
.
Because when we win…
our kids win.
our community wins.
our future wins.
.
Here’s to the cycle breakers.
Here’s to the first-gens rewriting the script.
Here’s to the families who refuse to play small anymore.
