Legend of Devaki Krishna in 16th-century Portuguese Goa.
The Portuguese likely encountered the story of Devaki-Krishna in Goa, possibly in the early 16th century, during their initial forays into the region. A legend tells that Vasco da Gama came across a statue of Devaki holding the baby Krishna, initially mistaking it for the Virgin Mary.
You'll notice that the Virgin Mary holds the baby Jesus in her hands (on the left) in the same way that Devaki holds the baby Krishna (on the right).
This tells us of the importance of the mother in every religion, where even God takes human form to feel and enjoy the mother's love.
