🌍 Beyond France: Our South Africa Adventure 🇿🇦
Before we ever started sharing our new life in France, we took our cameras to South Africa — and it was during this trip that I realised something. Maria wasn’t just great company, she was hilarious on camera 😂.
Her reactions, her humour, and the fun we had filming together made me decide: we have to do more of this.
That’s how our France series was born!

Hello everyone — and welcome to our new community space here on YouTube!
We’re Richard and Maria (plus the occasional scene-stealer, Albie our dog) and we’ve been documenting our journey of building A New Life in France — from visas and village fêtes to log-splitting, language lessons, and life on the river.
We spend our days exploring the best of local life: cycling along the old railway paths, strolling the Friday market in Sainte-Livrade, enjoying live music and foody feasts at the night markets, boating down the Lot, and occasionally inventing new ways to keep processionary caterpillars at bay. And in between all that, there’s always something to fix, film, or cook.
But this isn’t just our story — it’s become a shared one, thanks to you LOT!
We’ll use this community space to post little updates, behind-the-scenes moments, previews of what’s coming up, and the occasional daft thought that didn’t quite make it into an episode.
