In this episode for the Media Corner, we're going to watch a short clip from American author Robert Greene where he talks about how to stop being lazy. Time to practice your English with real-life content!
Picture this: You're about to close a deal, and your friend tells you to "break a leg." What?! Don't panic! Your friend is just wishing you good luck. Today we’re looking at 7 common body-part idioms in English that will instantly make you sound more natural and confident when speaking English in everyday conversations.
I love music. I’ve been playing guitar since I was seven, and ever since I discovered rock n’ roll, there was no turning back. Needless to say, music was an integral part of learning English for me. In this episode, I’m going to share why you should implement music in your English practice, and give you some tips to make the most of this amazing resource.
Today, we're diving deep into something a little controversial: the dark side of learning English on YouTube.
Now, I love YouTube. I'm here! You're here! It's an amazing resource. But let's be real – it's not all sunshine and rainbows when it comes to learning English. In fact, sometimes, it can actually hurt your progress.
So, grab your coffee, settle in, and let’s talk about the hidden problems with relying ONLY on YouTube to learn English.
I'm trying to figure out whether I should make videos again with the animated subtitles or not. On one hand, many of you say you love the animated subtitles, as it helps you follow along what I'm saying. On the other hand, some of you think the animated subtitles are distracting.
So I created this short poll for you to vote on which option you prefer:
1) Animated subtitles that are always on. (You can't turn them off) 2) Closed Captions (CCs) that you can turn on and off in the YouTube video player.
I'm trying to find out what works best for most people. So would you mind giving it a vote?
If you feel afraid to speak English in public, you’re not alone. We all want to be liked and recognized for our skills and achievements. That’s a fundamental human need. In this episode, I want to share with you 5 things that helped me feel more confident to speak English in any situation. I’ll give you some practical tips and some mindset shifts so you can gain that confidence to speak English with other people.
The English language, with its nuances, irregular spellings, and regional variations, presents unique challenges in pronunciation. Below, I list 20 words that frequently cause difficulties for English learners, especially those whose native language has sounds that are different or absent in English. For each word, I will detail the specific difficulty, offer tips to overcome it, and include examples to illustrate the challenges.
Great news! I'm opening a new group for my Conversation Club! Classes begin on March 5, 2025 and end on June 25, 2025. You now have two options to choose from:
Do you often feel like the English you learn at school and from textbooks doesn't really match the English you hear in media or in real life? You're not entirely wrong if you've thought this. In English learning, there's something called "Standard English" and "Colloquial English". Knowing more colloquial phrases and vocabulary will help you speak English more naturally and better understand native speakers in everyday situations. In today's episode, I go over some useful colloquial phrases that you can practice with.
