A traveler found a hermit woman meditating alone on a mountain and asked, “What are you doing here all by yourself?”

She replied, “I have a lot of work to do.”

Surprised, he asked, “What work?”

She said:

I must train two hawks — my eyes — to see the good in everything.

Train two eagles — my hands — not to hurt others.

Calm two rabbits — my feet — so they don't run from difficulties.

Motivate a donkey — my body — when it becomes tired and stubborn.

Discipline a snake — my tongue — which can easily wound with words.

Tame a lion — my ego — proud and always wanting to be king.

Then she smiled and said, “As you can see, I have plenty of work to do.”

Moral: Before criticizing, judging, or trying to change others, spend time working on yourself. Self-mastery is life's greatest challenge. 🌿✨
