I rarely get to go to traditional Cantonese wedding banquets these days. Come on kids! Time to start dating a get married sooner!! Put down those phones! :) Anyhow, I was recently attending my first banquet in many years. It was held at Fortune Palace 富臨門宴會廳, in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn. After visiting this neighborhood, it really motivated me to try to some reviews in Brooklyn. I find a quiet and good cluster of really promising looking Cantonese establishments in the neighborhood.
During the banquet, we had 10 courses and 3 desserts. I would say 80% of the dishes met or exceeded my expectations and this is a restaurant that definitely deserves a review. I was wondering, would I have been out of place to ask the bride, groom and family to review the food? My first reaction it that it's way too tacky to do that, but it did cross my mind. What do you think?

This is the moment I realized that the game was over. As a true Knicks fan from the late 1970’s to the mid 2010’s, I’m proud of their accomplishment. I am a Brooklyn Nets fan now but always happy to see my hometown team win. I remember those days back in the late 1970’s watching Knicks games on an old black and white tv on WOR Channel 9. My first memories were seeing how bad they were and how any moment of victory made me happy. I never thought I’d see them climb the mountain but here we are in 2026. Congrats to the Knicks and to their long suffering fans and I mean suffering! We finally did it!🙌🙌🙌

On the day of the first USA match in the World Cup, I got lucky with Pollo Campero's World Cup special campaign. I found the Golden Ball and won a year's worth of fried chicken 🍗🍗! But you would need to first buy the plushie. I never win anything so maybe this is the sign of many firsts, like a World Cup victory for the USMNT? #pollocampero #usmnt #pollitocampeon

Joong (Zongzi) is traditionally eaten on the 5th day of the 5th month of the lunar calendar, which is the official date of the Dragon Boat Festival. Does anyone make these? What are your favorite fillings? For me, it's the salted pork and Chinese sausage (lop cheung). This year the holiday is starts June 19!

Today I made my annual trip to the Thai Temple in Centereach Long Island New York. The Thai Fair is basically a cultural and food event hosted by one of the largest Thai community temples in New York. They hold this fair twice a year, once in June and once in August.
