Three Cats, Three Nervous Systems

Charlie, Lola and Patch each move through the world differently.

One reacts quickly and seeks safety. (Cautious Charlie)
One regulates and nurtures. (Loving Lola)
One explores boldly and asserts her boundaries. Pugnacious Patch - the unPredictable Wildcard)

Together, they are daily reminders that personality, sensitivity and behaviour are deeply connected to our nervous systems — and that there is no “wrong” way to be.

We simply learn how to live well with what we are given.

And perhaps… which cat is running the house on any given day. 🐾

Let me know what makes you playful or chills you out?! (Non-addictively of course!)

Ever wondered why catnip toys make cats happy?!

Yes — catnip is non-addictive and completely safe.

• Smelling catnip → stimulation & play
• Eating catnip → mild relaxation or sleepiness
Most cats show a short burst of behavioural changes lasting 5–15 minutes:

~ Rolling and rubbing
~ Purring or drooling
~ Zoomies / playful energy
~ Jumping or chasing imaginary prey
- Relaxed, blissful lounging afterward

Some cats become hyperactive, while others become calm and mellow.

So the same plant can act like either a play enhancer or natural chill-out aid.

About 30–40% of cats feel nothing at all.

That’s because sensitivity to catnip is:
• genetic
• inherited as a dominant trait

Kittens under ~3–6 months and many senior cats often show little reaction.

Big cats like lions and leopards can also respond — it’s a family-wide feline trait.

Cats naturally self-limit exposure because:
• the effect fades quickly
• overstimulation reduces sensitivity temporarily

These signals stimulate areas associated with:
• pleasure
• social behaviour
• mating instincts
• playfulness

Interestingly, the response resembles the effect of feline pheromones.
